Have VIN, is it possible to figure out when Civic arriving?

I have a dealer who wants me to sign a contract for a Civic Hatchback Sport that is "in transit". Now I have the VIN, so I know it's for real, but is there a way to find out what the expected delivery date is, or even if it's in the US? I should just trust the friendly, helpful, always honest car dealer, but somehow I just don't .

What do you mean by contract? Typically, money doesn't exchange hands till the car arrives and you've had a chance to look it over, test drive it, and make sure everything is OK.
