That is a bit much for an EX...then again Idk how prices are over there on the west coast...Here I was able to get $2000 off MSRP of the sport touring and it's not even out yet.

You might want to shop around first..
I agree. I didn't take the offer and still looking.

Someone posted the invoice pricing a while ago:

LX manual - $18,313.29
LX CVT - $19,083.90
Sport manual - $19,794.84
Sport CVT - $20,835.15
EX CVT - $21,184.34
EX-L CVT - $23,089.74

I don't know how accurate this is but seems pretty legit...So try to get as close to it as you can...I'd suggest emailing the dealers through their websites instead of going to them in person. Saves time, and let them know you are shopping around also so they don't waste your time on b.s quotes and "offers".

Let me just share a quote from one dealer here in San Diego.
Offering 78mos to pay with 2.49% APR.

EX CVT - $23,635.00
Tax - $1897.20
Subtotal - $25,532.20
Doc fee - $80.00
State of California - $8.75
DMV - $281.00
Total = $25,901.95
Downpayment - $3,000
Monthly payment - $311.68
That's full retail. Ridiculous.

Honestly man, I would never put money down on a lease. You don't own a leased car, and you will never get that money back. Truth is I think you could honestly get the car below $300/mo, and you will still have your $3k. I've known too many people who throw away money on a car they don't own (made the mistake in the past). Obviously I can't tell you what you can't do, but just advice that's all.

Thanks for that input. I was surprised when they asked for a down payment.
The manager even said that I wouldn't be able to find any good offer than that. So, I was like "Thanks for the offer then."

Hey no problem. They want you to believe you have no option. Trust me it can be done, sometimes it takes a little bit of dealer hopping. I don't have a hatch myself, but an EX sedan and I can tell you they always like to pull the "you need a down payment" card. Tell them $0 down, if you have good credit the ball is in your court. Dealers love leases because they are selling the same car twice. You have it, and when you're done they resell it as "certified pre-owned". I went to Pacific Honda in Kearny Mesa to get my 16MY civic, they actually are willing to negotiate (at least in my experience). I've bought one car from them in the past, and I'm leasing the civic I have now from them. I'm not sure if you've been to that dealer yet, but I think you can possibly work something out. I don't want to hijack this thread, but you can PM me if you want.

I was $22900 out the door for my sport hatch with extended warranty and service package!
I do not think that was to bad.
It helps when your friend works at the stealership.

Just got back from my dealership. They are going to sell me the Sport Touring for 27500. I put an order in for one and they said their estimate is to have it December 20th. Now we wait and cross our fingers!

Just received a quote from one the the Costco Auto Buying participating dealer (located in Queens NYC) via email confirm:

2017 Hatchback Civic EX-L navi

Sales Tax-Suffolk county (8.625%): $2,051.28
New Plates: $235
NY State Inspection: $10
NY State Tire Tax: $12.50

I've been lurking this thread for a few weeks now and it was super helpful in navigating negotiations with the dealers so a big thank you to everyone who's contributed thus far.

I nabbed a 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport CVT in Polished Metal Metallic in the SF Bay Area for $21,700 + taxes and fees.

It took quite a bit of back and forth and a few weeks of patience but I managed to negotiate the dealer down quite a bit. For reference the best TrueCar price I received was $22,447 and the best Costco Auto price I received was $22,400. A number of dealers weren't willing to budge at all given the limited allotments so far but the patience and thorough shopping around paid off and I'm really happy with the price and super excited about the car :D
