This forum has been incredibly useful so thought I'd post my buying experience. I sent out quote requests to about 8-10 dealers in the area. Several of them said they were selling at MSRP and others were just a few hundred off MSRP. Luckily I found the color combination at a few dealers so we could negotiate actual cars. Went back and forth for a day to get a deal. Eventually other dealers said they wouldn't even match (let alone beat) the deal that I obtained.

Hatchback EX CVT
MSRP with destination: $23,635
Selling price: $21908.92
OTD: $23,500

$1726 discount off sticker is the best I heard so far. Congrats!

Nice. They aren't going for much than $100-200 off MSRP around here. Too much demand and not enough supply.

The hatchbacks must have higher mark ups than the sedans & coupes.

bought a 6MT Sport today, got $635 off MSRP, I was ok with that.
Congrats! Sounds like a win on the price too. Would love to hear what you think of the 6MT after driving it a bit.

Hi Everyone,

I need some advice: so I got some pricing for an EX from my dealership.

Vehicle Selling Price $23,635.00
Sales Tax (estimate) + $1,899.52
Documentation Fee + $80.00
Tire/Battery/MVWEA + $8.75
Weight Fee + $8.00
Tag/Registration Fees (estimate) + $225.00
Electronic Filing + $29.00
Flat Add/County Fee + $10.00
Smog Abatement Fee + $20.00
Customer Deposit Edit
Balance Due (estimate) $25,915.27

Location: LA/Orange County

I checked truecar.com, and they actually had this "$1050 off MSRP (hatchback EX) guarantee certificate" for the same dealership. I emailed the dealership with my certificate and they said that they would honor the certificate. Therefore, I calculate it to be MSRP minus $1050 = $22,635 (So my estimated balance due would be 25915.27 minus 1050).

So I'd like to know if you guys had any tips or any "watchouts" when I go in tomorrow to make the purchase. I've heard that they accept the truecar guarantee but make up for it by throwing in all these random addons, etc.

I have an auto loan so I'll basically be a cash buyer.

Thanks for your time.

Sweet. Do you actually have it? Mine is being delivered still, so I have to wait.

I drove a 6MT LX model, and it kicked ass. Vroom! Huge pickup.

Wound up getting the Sport sort of on a whim, because it was the color I wanted and the price was about +$1000 on the LX quote I got from another dealer so why not.

I think I'll like the leather wrapped wheel, interior design differences & fog lights, but I don't think I'll notice the extra 6 horsepower or whatever. Also I think I would actually prefer 16" to 18" wheels just due to tire cost if nothing else but hey.

I got $500 off sticker but we had a trade in the mix. Our trade was an '07 Caliber and they gave us about what I expected based on KBB, Edmunds, and NADA. I'm fully aware I didn't get a great deal, but given that it's a new, still hard to find vehicle (we got the ONLY Sonic Gray Pearl in our entire area, and I still haven't seen one 2+ weeks later) and the fact that we had a trade, I feel like we got a fair deal given those factors. I wasn't willing to wait several more months to save another $500 or so.
