Hatchback owners, have you slept/camped in the back yet?

I'm 6'5" so my answer is a hard no. If I were 1/2 my current age, my answer would still be a hard no.

I’m back with an update! I built a platform to level out the trunk for sleeping, and give me storage. Tested it this weekend camping and loved it!

I don't have a nifty bed in my hatch, but if I slept like crap the night before work, I'll use my lunch break to take a nap in the hatch. I have a baseball glove that I keep forgetting in the cargo area that works great as a pillow. lol.

I mean, I'm only 5'7", so I fit pretty well in there.

This is definitely a thing. The Prius is a hatchback too and there are a bunch of people who have converted the rear into a camper style, complete with a leveled deck for a mattress and an inverter for appliances. People take solo road trips cross country and sleep in Priuses. Doing this to a hatch is like a low-key mini version of those van life conversions people do to Ford Transits or MB Sprinters lol. If you're talking about bare minimum of just laying down with a mattress of some kind and a blanket, definitely. You can probably make it more legit camper too, imagination is your limit. Definitely more comfortable than the coupe or sedan though lol.

Had to take a quick truck stop nap in mine, 6'3 and I just leaned the passenger seat all the way back and I fit just fine (obviously with the seat slid all the way back)

Civics have always been known to be bigger on the inside than out. Kinda like a Tardis. Look at these hippies.

Back with an update to my update. Expanded the platform so I could have company ? and added additional hinges so the platform(S) don’t have to be removed to put the rear seats upright & haul rear passengers. Auto fabric arrives tomorrow, and the whole thing will be covered to look more like oem trunk.

BTW, if you remove the rear bench, which is super east to do, the backs of the seats lay flatter and lower...

Great idea! How do you open the hatch from the inside when you want to get out?

The whole reason I got the hatchback was to camp! Luno makes a perfect blow up mattress for our hatch! Able to fit my gf (5’1”) myself (5’9”) and our 35 lb dog perfectly

what’s that on the back of the car? Is it like an awning or netting? Interested in buying
