Has anyone removed the honeycomb grill from in front of the intercooler?

This may be obvious, but in case it is not, the grill helps protect the intercooler from damage from road debris. While it's nice to have a clear view of it, it is probably best left "shielded". I know that some are willing to take the risk but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Yeah, I figured that's exactly what it was there for. I doubt I end up doing it, but did want to see what it looks like without it.

I wanna say it does hold the lower lip more rigidly. My lower lip does feel more loose than before, but nothing over the board. Just a tad.

That's actually another concern I had about doing it.

I seen photos from another member that did the lower grill delete. And yes it did completely mess up the lower lip, bent the hell out of it at high speeds. If anything... I’d get a lower splitter and add rods in to complete the look.

Sorry for parachuting into this (kind of dead) thread by now.
Do you guys think the type R grille would fit the hatchback grill?
I always liked it better, its not as thick as the stock hatchback one, so it allowa you to see the intercooler better like in this picture, without compromising the lip.

I'll try and tape measure the grilles when I go to Honda next week, but would like to get your opinion on this, possibly, simple mod.

I just wanna leave this here: A small bird flew into my lower grille while i was at speed and smacked the cooler hard enough to be killed. I therefore believe this grille is only in place for rigidity and for keeping "larger" debris (ie, plastic bags/bottles/squirrels) out. I now need to remove the front lower shield/lip enough to remove it.
