Kind of pointless if they got his plate number. Only "makes sense" for someone driving a stolen car and already in so deep they have nothing to lose.

apparently they didn't get his plate #
the cop said "we'll get him next time"

Unless it was a very rural area there are cameras everywhere these days. I would think they could track him. But maybe they don't want him bad enough.

Unless it was a very rural area there are cameras everywhere these days. I would think they could track him. But maybe they don't want him bad enough.
at least these cops were smart enough to call off the pursuit. Sometimes they continue pursuits like this endangering everyone else on the road.

Having the plate doesn't necessarily mean anything. If there's any significant gap between stopping the pursuit and seeing the car again, the court will say it could be a different driver. Like 30 seconds out of sight could be enough.

Just hope you don't manage to kill anyone during those 30 seconds or you might spend the next decade (or two) shacked up with 275 lb. Bubba.

Guess I should have given some context- been a city cop for 12 years, I'm always trying to figure out what tricks people will use in court to get out of their shenanigans. Easier to write a good report that way.

I have much sympathy for spirited driving when nobody else is put in danger, but not much for street racing and eluding police.
