So, when installing a new clutch, do you add a bit of grease to where the input shaft splines meet the clutch hub teeth?

Yes, no, maybe not? šŸ¤·šŸ¼šŸ˜„ The RV6 instructions say to add a very small amount of the Exedy grease to the splines, but Iā€™ve gotten mixed answers, so, letā€™s see what the community says!

Apply a very small amount, place the clutch plate on the splines, slide it a few times and then remove it, and then wipe off any excess that is not on the splines. It's what I've always done, and I've never had an issue with a contaminated clutch or otherwise.

Great tip!
Itā€™s metal to metal and it slides on the shaft so why wouldnā€™t you I guess???
I mean, I do and probably will again someday.
Engineers, please feel free to crush my inferior intellect with some reason why you wouldnā€™t. Andā€¦ā€¦. Go!

This is the way.

Small amount, yes. You definitely don't want to leave them dry, it will wear grooves into the input shaft splines and/or cause irregular engagement/disengagement from the disc not sliding easily.
