Purchase a used Si turbo. $300-$400. Non-bank breaking!

If you're not looking to break the bank I'd just go for minor bolt-ons. Anything bigger than the SI turbo will eventually run you into transmission issues. You'll also need a custom tune to properly run that new turbo, so a tuner and some time with someone to make your set-up work properly. You're right around 2k even with a 1k turbo upgrade. Then you'll need a better intercooler because the stock one is only good for stock engines at stock boost levels. Then your stock intake will be restricting and pulling in a bunch of hot air, your exhaust will start to restrict power too....

I'd start with an intercooler upgrade, a downpipe and a tuner. You'll be around 215-220whp and 260-270 wtq. I only got around 205whp and it's very fun, just a stage 1 intake and a tuner. You'll be right around the same money spent with less power than the turbo but you'll have that power for as long as you want since the upgraded intercooler won't heatsoak in 15 seconds.
