Hey guys,

I bought my car on August, runs great, no problems so far except for the infamous Honda start-up grinding noise that I've heard for the first time last weekend.

Haven't heard it since, but I'm a bit concerned whether this will have any potential damage to my car in the future. I read it's a common problem among other Civic owners and currently the dealerships have no resolution for it.

Hence, I'm interested in purchasing the Hyannis extended warranty, but before doing so, I'd like to ask if you guys feel it's worth purchasing over a grinding noise. I would prefer to drive this car up to at least 100k. What are your thoughts?

Hyannis's quotes are so inexpensive that I feel it's a no-brainer, especially for a 2016. I went for the 7 year/120k mile 0 deductible plan.

Do you have the start-up noise as well?

I feel getting the warranty will put me at ease with this, less to worry about if I'm covered. How much did you pay?

I was quoted at $1,005.00 for 8 years (not 7, misremembered). And yes, I have the startup noise. I'm pretty sure everyone with the 1.5T engine does.

You can go to any dealer with the extended warranty right? I hate my dealer and would never go back there. They lied about how much a protection package cost. They told me how much 5 years was. I said ok I'll take 4. And they said Ok we'll put 7 since its just 20 bucks more. It was $400 more.

With Hyannis, it seems to work at every Honda dealership except those in Florida and California.

Saccucci also offers good pricing, they're based out in RI I believe.

If you have Honda Care, you can use it at any Honda dealer including ones in Florida and California. Hyannis does not sell to those states but you can use them there.

Saccucci does sell to Floridians and Californians if anyone's wondering.

Hi, I'm also interested in getting a extended warranty when I get close to the 30k or 3 years. I see you mention Hyannis extended warranty and Honda care. How would i go about getting the hyannis warranty, does it has to be through my dealership? Where can I purchase it. Also same questions for the Honda Care warranty.

Thanks

Hyannis extended warranty is Honda Care. You purchase from them. And it's cheaper before the 6k mile mark.

Hyannishonda is the way to go. $1005 for 8 yr/120K, 0 deductible. It's the lowest rate I found online. No hassle whatsoever. Got my policy/payment receipt the same day as payment. My Honda Care card and policy came from Honda Financial 2 weeks later, less than the time promised. A slight savings over my dealer's quote of $2800 for the same plan.

Because of their volume (I think) these discount dealers are getting a cheaper price. The finance guy at my dealer said their cost was $1010. Of course that no-way justifies a markup of 177% which gets the highway robbery award in my book. When you hear how car dealers don't make a huge profit on the starting price of a new car, but make it up in accessories, extras, and service -- believe it.

Any ideas about 0% interest payment plan for Honda Care? I'm thinking of getting one, and would be interested if I can use a payment plan rather than pay up all at once. Does anyone have experience with this payment plan so far?

I saw a website for Toyota Extra Care with 0% installment payments, but I have no idea of their rates. Haven't come across one for Honda Care.

Anyone know if Saccucci would price match? Planning on moving to Cali sometime next year and I think my only option is to purchase through them; maybe get a quote from Hyannis and have them match it.

No, these prices are basically non-negotiable since they're not marking them up 200% like normal dealers. Might have to swallow the pill for this one.

I just bought the extended warranty 8/100k thru HondaCare with the 0% interest for 18 months. I had to put 10% down, choice of auto debit out of checking acct or a charge to my credit card every month. Also the choice of what date of the month for the debit.

I've never purchased an extended warranty before but with all the technology in the car, I needed peace of mind. Plus my AC went out few days ago and I've only had the car 3-1/2 weeks!
