Avg. 25-26mpg driving with probably 30% freeway and 70% streets. I have my car tuned (Manual transmission too) with a CAI and an exhaust system. Also put in 91 Octane fuel. I'm hearing all these people getting like 40mpg consistently and am wondering is that because you guys are driving purely freeway?! Sure I drive probably more aggressive than the average driver but wondering why there is such a difference in gas mileage with some cars...

I have an identical setup, with a similar highway/city breakdown, and get about 27mpg. I can get that to about 35 if I drive well, but to get 40 I think you'd have to reduce the city driving.

I have a 2016 LX 6MT. My commute is about 90% highway, at 55mph +/-, and I almost always do better then 40. The only time I don't, is December and January, and even then, I am 'this' close to 40. No eco button use. Tires at 32-35 psi. I am not a lead foot, but I don't really baby it either. The city driving kills the mileage, as well as interstate speeds (70+). My best is 47.1mpg, and that was actual, not the computer. I've hit 47mpg 5 or 6 times. The potential is there under the right circumstances.

What is your mpg at 70 mph?

Makes sense you avg 40+ at 55mph doing all highway. I guess I drive too much city to have any great mpg numbers. But I at least figured switching from 87 octane to 91 octane would bring some improvements! Or even the CAI and exhaust... but it probably doesn't help that I have 18" tires too! haha

At 70MPH, it will drop down to around 41-42 in the summer, lower in winter.

I am all stock, factory original tires (Hankooks).

Ok. thanks.

I debated on getting the 2.0 (vs the 1.5t). I'm doing at least 10% better than that, .. but the 2.0 is the safe choice for proven Honda reliability (imo).

I have a K&N drop in and a flowmaster muffler for engine mods, running 17" wheel/tires at 33psi.....my daily commute is 60% hwy at 80mph and 40% rural secondary at 35-50 mph. Round trip per day is 120 miles. I average 37-38 mpg. I've never been below 34 mpg no matter how hard I drove it or how many hills I climb.....I use Honda full synth oil 0w-20 and change it every 5-7k miles with filter.

Oh wow that's gnarly. But I guess it makes sense when your commute is 120miles per day with that much free way. I drive in traffic a lot when I do get on the freeway, so freeway mpg isn't that much better than streets unless I'm driving long distance freeway.

2.0L city mileage is crap, something like 20-25mpg, not the 31 advertised. Highway mileage, on the other hand, is stellar.
1.5 city mileage, from what I heard, is much better.

Why would the 2.0L city mileage be that much worse than the 1.5L city mileage?

Smaller engines will be more efficient than larger engines with small/light and intermittent loads (city driving). Plus the CVT used with the 2.0L is a cheaper part than the CVT on the 1.5L, and my opinion is it isn't smooth and efficient at city speeds.

Are you suggesting the 1.5l has a different transmission than the 2.0l? If so, I haven't heard that before!
