I'm not even sure what OP is asking here. Are you saying that you're surprised that you're seeing 27-30 mpg but only getting 270-300 miles per tank before needing to gas up? The low fuel light will come on when you have around a little less than 2 gallons left. That's about 10 gallons consumed - 10x27 = 270 miles, 10 x 30 = 300 miles. Hurray for basic math.

Sorry man - if you wanted 40 mpg, you probably shouldn't have bought a street legal race car.
It appears OP is lazy and / or can't do basic math...

I’ve gotten 200+ miles on a fill up maybe 5 times over the last 21 months of ownership

I average around 24mpg and I’ll probably never do better than that, this thing is way to fun to drive.

huuuaaahhhh.. Just filled up my puny Si.. after 499 miles on 12 gallons!

That said, the CTR is stock 305hp? Takes a lot of fuel (and air) to make that kind of HP. A corvette will get about the same Highway MPG simply due to low end torque and gearing. Heck, my old 150hp VW Jetta (with 5cylinder engine) barely made 30mpg highway, so to me, I'd enjoy what you are getting out of that CTR

Officially, the US Gov rates a Gas Guzzler as anything that gets less than 12.5 combined mpg.

In a 70%/30% highway/local driving split, I've found that my Type R (~27 MPG) gets about 5-7 mpg lower than my previous tuned '17 SI did (~33 MPG). I'm personally pretty happy with that overall.

Yoir mileage is fine.

If you got a tune for E85, your MPGs would drop because it takes a larger volume of ethanol to do the same work as gasoline. You have Si mileage expectations in a CTR. You'll need to change your expectations. Its a 22 city/28 highway rated car. Its doing just fine. Its actually just a little less than a 9th gen Si (22/31) that had 2/3 the power and a crappy chassis.

Thank you sir this is exactly what I was inquiring about, the other responses seem to ridicule a simple question about E85... Thanks for the info...

Dang, how do you get 29mpg on a CTR? In South Carolina heat no less. Most highway? And short shifting at 2k?

Going E85 will knock the range down to 200-ish. No bueno.

I get 22 around town, which is within advertised mpg. Yeah, the tank is small. But she’s a sweet ride. Can’t have everything.
I totally agree with you, just though E-85 might give me more fuel range, but I got my answer... see ya'll on on hwy!!

I think the OP bought the wrong car...o_O

I'm lucky to get 19mpg and if you are filling up shortly after or at the time when the fuel light comes on you are usually only putting about 10 gallons in the tank.

This car is by no means a gas guzzler. The actual "gas guzzler federal tax" that applies to some cars doesnt come into effect unless the car achieves under 22.5 combined (EPA unadjusted) MPG.

Edit: I forgot my fuelly is in my sig, and its 19mpg LOL!

I get 28.4 MPG with a somewhat restrained driving style which is about 330 miles between fillups. It’s not as good as my last Civic which got something like 38 but that Civic didn’t drive like a bat out of hell either :)

Agreed... OP, not trying to bash on you but seriously you must be from a different world if you think 27-29mpg is a gas guzzler o_O

My STI averaged about 19mpg, had a Lexus IS200T that got about 24, and my buddy's M3 does about 19-20 as well. Getting 29mpg from a pocket sports car like the CTR is pretty good.

Lucky bastards !
Im lucky if I can get to 20MPGs on my car. At around 200miles the empty lights comes on.

And you call a high 20s mpg car a gas guzzler LOL
