Long story short:

I have a 2020 Hatch Sport Cvt, been running V 1.2 with tuner view for a month with no problems and constant monitoring. Today just to give a shot, I flashed TSP stage 1 and here is where things got interesting.

Current set tune and monitoring:

Starter 21 with early spoon and everything pretty much set aggressively.
Ambient temp was 57F
IATs had a 18 degree delta and don't exceed 100F when I drive normally.
ECT was 169
Everything else was normal and up to my standards of what I've been monitoring

Flashed the TSP stage 1 and found the following:

Ambient temp was 55F
IATS had a 27 degree delta
ECT shot up to 209F and maintained a constant 197F

The tsp was driven for 30 mins with ambient Temps varying from 55F to 57F.

The 209F ECT occurred while I was in motion and my IATs were sitting above 100F

Any insight from anyone on why this occurred? I flashed it back to my Custom 21tune.

ECT 169 is not even warmed up. Sounds like your results were from driving the car a bit. :)

What intake you had on the car would also be relevant to the discussion.

I'm stock, I do drive the car a bit and my normal commute to work my ECT are 160ish to a max of 189, which is a 20 minute drive. With the ambient being higher than the test I did today. The car sat for an hour or so before the test and the drive was only about 10 minutes to the store. So I'm trying to figure out how that short drive with a lower ambient compared to my normal commute could spike up temps like that. I drive like a grandma, I barely WOT and my tps.cmd is usually at 20ish percent.

"in motion" means nothing. If you were driving below 30 MPH your ECT can increase as high as 210 until the fan kicks in to maintain or you drive quickly enough to cool it off.

Your intake temps also will climb even "in motion" if you are going too slow.

Unless you are driving the same route at the same speed in the same traffic at the same ambient with both tunes, you're not generating any comparable data.

To top it off, none of the numbers you've given are even the slightest bit alarming. A totally stock car will see those numbers driving in the right conditions, which are not uncommon.

Roger got it, I just it was just different from what I'm use to seeing. This platform is kinda fresh for me. Thanks for the knowledge guys!!

If the 209 was constant, I'd be a little concerned but you said it dropped down to 197 so that's good. Just curious, during your 30 minute drive were you pushing it a bit? I know if it was me and I was trying a new tune like you were, l'd definitely be pushing it.

I’m paying attention normally to ECT2 since ECT 1 almost always around 170-190.
And as many other guys said it’s not a big deal in your case
