Fuel filter

Perhaps I am showing my age here, but can anyone tell me why our Civics, and most all new cars today do not have an inline replaceable fuel filter? Thank you for your replies.

So they can charge you extra to get into the fuel pump and replace it there. It's better by the pump as well because it allows the fuel to be filtered immediately rather than just before going into your motor. Please post mechanical questions in the appropriate forum.
