this guy is an idiot. he walked into the dealership and just bought it. no research. nothing. im pretty sure he's screwed at this point, but is there any way to go back and remove/refund some of the accessories/insurances he bought. i think he got the full package/stuffs with it so it was so high.

Clearly, even allowing for extras he paid way, way, way too much. But you know what's worse? Paying the right price for the wrong car. He got the right car.
So tell him to enjoy it.

"friend just paid 60k for a 2021 boost blue type r"

People pay that much for Mustangs, Challengers, and Camaros that have worse track performance, worse build quality, worse interior, worse shifter, worse steering feel, worse depreciation, worse reliability, and worse build quality. Who cares?

The fact that 6 pages into this and you're not responding, makes you seem sus, OP. Relatively new forum account, no past indicator of wanting to get a Type R (based on post history), makes it seem like you're the one who made this decision. I don't mean to start internet bullying over your friend's (or your??) bad decision, but man, who goes to a dealership buying a car with no research?? Even exotic car buyers still consider knowing what they're paying for their supercars... but a $60k non-LE Type R?

And it had to have a MSRP sticker on it, and you would know what the suggested sale price was by just looking at the required sticker.

I take it this guy is in his early 20s, just started what he feels like a stable job, living with parents, no wife and no kids to support- hasn't established any financial stability (hence making foolish financial purchase). Now this is the kind of person who doesn't know how to use money to make more money (investing, etc).

With that type of money he could of hopped into a nice, luxury BMW. But then again, we don't know if this person came across this large sum of money through an inheritance, yet still foolish enough to waste this cash on something they they paid x2 for. This deserves a head shake or two.

Is this story even real ? Has the "O.P." commented since the original post ?
I am doubting the validity of this. Would a bank or anyone finance that much money on a new car to someone without credit and for it to be that high above the value of said car ?
Most people without credit have to put at least ten percent down on a non marked up sale price over MSRP don't they ? Who would loan him the $25k plus mark up on a car ?
