I am looking at adding puddle lights to my side view mirrors or chassis trim, and trying to find the most usable method to enable/power them. There are a few older threads on civicx where the OP used the dome light circuit:

Also, 2019-2020 civics now have an OEM option installed on the chassis trim:

I would like the lights to engage on proximity of my FOB, but the honda EWD site was recently locked down and I never saved the wiring diagrams before they did so :(

Anyone have thoughts on tapping the proximity sensor? The other complication is that the lights need to disengage once the car is started or doors locked etc.

I was able to see the wiring diagrams with the techinfobrowser.

There isn’t a proximity sensor you could get a signal from. There are several antennas that go to the BCM so the BCM does that work. I also doubt that it is doing that work after the car has been off for a bit, it would probably start looking for the fob once the door or hatch sensor has been triggered or key fob button pressed.

One option is the accessory connector next to the fuse box to have them timed with the interior lights.

Another would be to trigger each side from the door unlock on that side with a 555 timer circuit to keep them on for the time you want, more circuitry but a lot less wiring.
