[Update]

First time owner of an fk8…kinda. Came across a good deal for a flood damaged type-r that someone had already started to repair. Normally, I’d stay away from flood damaged vehicles, but I felt a strong need to try and bring this car back to life. Bad idea? The jury is still out on that one….

Mechanically the car runs and drives. Electronically though there’s some things that need replacing/ going through.

Anyways, I’m posting here in the hopes someone has more knowledge or experience than me with some of these codes. Or can at the very least point me in the right direction. I hope that our collective minds can help get this type-R back on the road.

Thanks in advance!

Oy vey. That's an impressive list, spanning a whole lot of systems. You, sir, are to be commended for your fortitude--you have quite the project ahead of you I think! But, um, I have no clue what those codes mean, sadly. Best of luck--it will be so cool if when you get that puppy back on the road!

Thats a pretty large risk even if you did get a great deal... in terms of what makes sense

Step 1: All new wiring/harness

Step 2: start working your way through any sensors from major to minor that still show issues

How bad was the flood damage and was anything actually fixed or attempted in fixing after? lots of questions lol

Thanks for the reply, and so yeah a couple of things had been replaced prior to my purchase. How well something was installed or the quality of replacement parts is not something I’m certain of but this is the following list: BCM body control module, ECU, interior fuse box, clock spring, floor harness, radiator harness, dash harness and intercooler pipe.

I must also add that, the car mechanically speaking is good, runs and drives. Interior has either been cleaned or replaced because it doesn’t have any significant wet odor. I’ll include pictures above.

Clear the codes, and check again, some may be intermittent and may not come back. you may need a carbon canister if its clogged. check connectors for the others, may have to replace each respective component.

Thanks for the reply, any idea where the carbon canister is located? I would assume it’s clogged based on the water level/ dirt.

Carbon canister is next to fuel tank, you may have to remove under shields.

Just some updates on what I’ve done so far. I’ve ripped out most of the interior. The smell wasn’t overwhelming, but there was a hint of wet dirt smell. All door panels have a bit of dried dirt on the back of them, noticed some even behind the dash. Hopefully this weekend I’ll have everything removed and cleaned.

Also some idiot thought it a great idea to punch holes in the bottom of the floor to let the standing water out. So I’ll be welding those over as well this weekend.

So how deep was the water? Salt or fresh water? You may have a lot of connection cleaning in your future...

Water level came up to at least steering wheel height. And I’m not too sure on salt or fresh, it was flooded in NY in 2021s storms if that helps?

[Update] 07/09

Today the focus was on repairing the holes made in the floor. They ranged in size of a nickel to a quarter. There were (6) in total. Lucky my dad does some welding and lent me a hand in getting them closed up. Also took the opportunityto remove the EVAP canister since the plastic piece underneath had to be removed for that welding. There was a good bit of dirty water in it.

That’s all for todays work!
