It's not a fake a alarm its a real factory alarm and its linked with the immobilizer unit. When you lock the car it arms the system to honk if the car is opened up without the remote unlocking and disabling the security system. For the immobilizer part it wont let someone start the car unless they have your key, your key has a chip inside of it that talks to the car and tells it to start if someone uses another key that's not programmed to your car but has the same cut it will not start.

I bought my 17 Civic back in July and haven't noticed the light yet. When should I expect to see battery drainage in my sewers? And can I get mutated turtles instead of frogs?

Does anyone know if the alarm goes off if it's being jacked up
No. Once set, the alarm (horn & lights flash) sounds if a door, hood, or trunk is opened before the key or fob is used to unlock the car.
The car cannot be started or continue to run without the key/fob being present.

I meant if someone were to attempt to steal your rims and jack it up will the car alarm go off

Actually the alarm works.
Lock the doors with windows down, then reach in and pop the trunk.
See what happens.

Ask me how I found out lol.
Mad dash to pick up keys, which are of course not where you placed them
I did this on my Challenger. At like 4:30 in the morning, with the garage door open for the whole neighborhood to hear. :spaz: I didn't even know it had that crap on it. Kept pushing the panic button and making it worse. Won't do it again. :nono:

I have the flashing red light but when I unlock the car from the inside with the windows rolled down the system does not go off?

You just press unlock on the key fob.
That stops the alarm.

Took me awhile to find my key.
Neighbours not impressed. lol
Or start the engine normally... with the key or Start button (In presence of the fob, naturally)

Back from the dead...

Just noticed the blinking red light today after 2 months owning the car.

Today I locked the car using the key fob and noticed the light from upstairs bedroom window looking at my car.

Does this ONLY turn on the alarm if you lock the car using the fob? I usually lock my car By using the (Slow motion walks away from car) auto lock.
