Was thinking of grabbing some 18x10 + 34 wheels for the Type R soon. Should I expect any issues with some lowering springs? Would it need any fender mods to not have any rubbing or would camber solve that?
Yes, at this square setup if you plan to lower you should budget a fender trim. Rub-free sizing would be 18x9.5 +45 at any height (lowered + OEM)

Logical follow on question...

How wide can (as in width and series) can you go before coilovers are needed vs lowering springs (Eibach Pro)?

Your answer is likely for 18” but could you please answer for us oddball 19” fans too? Thanks!
Any width for an 18x10.5-18x11 we definitely recommend coilovers as most coilovers will come with adjustable tophats to dial the camber. There are customers running 18x11 on springs, though be prepared to run a spacer to clear the inside as progressive springs tend to have a wider outer diameter than linear springs found on coilovers.

The same applies to 19".

Thanks, your knowledge is the comfy pillar I can take a short nap on and wake up to the right answers.

Test drive around the City. No issues at our ride + alignment settings. Car feels incredibly planted.

I didn’t rub with that setup and +42 so you should be good . I started rubbing when i went lower on Coilovers and more aggressive offset +38 . Anyways saw this thought this would help you ??.

Was looking at 18x10 +25 with a 275/35. I’m hoping to track the car any advice aside from going less aggressive ?

Mighty Oracle System Motorsports,

If you were a widest tire on an OEM R lowered on Eibach Pro, what size would be without rub/contact?

Thanks in advance for your divine advice!

You should be fine on stock height, but can’t speak for rubbing with springs. I’m riding on Ce28 18x9.5 on AD08R 255/35/18 with no issues of rubbing but on stock ride height. Plan on getting Spoon springs

18x10 +25 could fit but would require camber kit in the rear and bent tab in the front most likely.

Rears are definitely cut to accommodate this spec!

200 TW tires like the RT660 or AD08R typically run wide. With the CE28SL at ET+38, they may rub with a wider tire if you plan on lowering it, so at the very minimum a camber kit or a fender trim in the rear is recommended.

I don’t want to trim the fenders, how much camber do you think it could need to make it fit
