Not the same tire specs but same wheel specs I just put on 2 weeks ago Enkei T6R 18x9.5 +45 on 265\35\18 Yokohama Advan Apex v601 tires stock suspension also

I just ordered those wheels in gloss black! Not many photos out there since they’re new. Looks great. How do you like them ? I’ll be using falken azenis 615k+ 265/35

Can anyone comment on the steering feel of a 255/40/18 vs 265/35/18? Before browsing this thread I was pretty set on 265/35 but now I’m re-evaluating.

I'm running this setup almost exactly. I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4AS (all seasons) on Titan7 T-D6 18x9.5 +45 wheels. Stock suspension. No rubbing of any kind in any mode.

As of right now I have a set of 18x9.5 +45 Y wheels from Mita but am not able to find the Michelin ps as4 in stock in either 255/40 or 265/35! I’d like to hold out for those but might have to consider others too.

I went from 255/40 to 265/35 and i feel it responds better with the latter.

I definitely feel the steering went numb when I went from stock to 255/40/18. Going to be going to a 265/35 next I think for this very reason. Most likely a stiff side walled tire as well. For the record of the thread, you can lower on 255/40 and 9.5” +38 with minimal fender liner rub up front.

I don't know, but I can run some numbers and make an educated guess.

Note: These numbers are calculated, not measured. As a result, they don't take into account real-world dimensions which probably vary slightly between brands.


The OEM 245/30-20 wheel & tire combo has a sidewall height of 73.5mm and an overall height of 655mm.

255/40-18 tires have a sidewall height of 102mm and an overall height of 661.2mm, which is 6.2mm taller than a stock wheel/tire combo.

A 255/45-18 is going to to have a sidewall height of 114.75mm and an overall height of 686.7mm, which is 31.7mm higher than stock.

I've read of people on these forums who use 255/35-20 tires on their stock wheels, which are 31.5mm taller than the OEM setup. Based on that it seems like it would work, but I've never read of anyone doing it.

When you plug that tire size into https://tiresize.com/comparison/ it shows there would be a fairly significant speedometer variance as well:

The last thing I'll mention is the taller sidewall on the 255/40's makes them less immediate and a bit more "floaty" as compared to the OEM wheel and tire combo - I know this from first hand experience. This will be even more pronounced on 255/45's.

If you do proceed with that tire size, please be sure to check and/or re-do the math yourself beforehand. For all you know, I'm a moron. :p

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that I will be going with the 255/40 tire setup. I was wondering, do you think I would need to buy hub centric rings or do an alignment when installing the wheels and tires?
You won’t need an alignment unless you just lowered the car or needed one previously. I recommend hub centric rings 👍

You may not need hubcentric rings but i got some anyway. Its just how my weddsports bolted on, the rings just make it easier to mount. But, get some aluminum ones if you do.

255 40 18 looks good on stock height.
265 35 18 will have to be lowered or it will look funny. Seen it in person and didnt like it, quite a gap. Subjective of course.

I really like them, great concavity and I don’t see quite as many of them as the 6 spoke wheel many like to run lol. I also like the gloss finish a lot. I found mine very slightly used with the tires here on this forum from a local member several months back.

I forgot to mention, would I be able to use the OEM TPMS sensors for my aftermarket wheels?

Was looking at the owner's manual and it seems that we have an indirect TPMS sensor so I am assuming that there isn't a sensor on the OEM wheels. Also, thank you everyone for the help relating to the tires!!
