Any advice on how I should approach fixing this myself? It's really tiny but I'm worried about it spreading. I'm definitely gonna get touch up paint and clearcoat, but as far as sandpaper or anything else, I have no idea what to do.

Get a touch-up paint , at the end there is a small ceramic tip that you can use to remove the rust.
I would also apply rust proofing behind. (I like to use Fluid Film as it is easy to apply, it comes in a can)

Definitely do it before it spreads. I usually just chip it off with a screwdriver and then sand it. After that I clean it with phosphoric acid to get all of the rust off. You will need to enlarge the area a little to get all of the rust off. I've done it this way a couple of times and the rust has not come back.

Go on YouTube and search "Chris Fix." He's posted some great video of these types of touch-ups and repairs. The videos are about 2-3 months old. Look for the White Chrysler 300, it's amazing what he did.
