The K20C2 does not share rods/pistons with the K20C1.

The factory ECU does not have the ability to interpret positive intake manifold pressure.

If you are driving this under load currently, please stop doing so. You will break the engine.
So how is it possible that the R18, K24Z, K24W, etc. engines can run boost on their stock ECU’s, considering they all use the same MAP sensor (37830-RNA-A01), but not the K20C2?

Because the software in the ECU is not ready for it. Hondata and Ktuner can solve this but it takes work.

Don't those engines still need to use K-Pro or something similar for the boost to be read?

because MAP based tuning and 10th gen logic is MAF

Got a Question for OP, what internals did you use? like brand and such and we still waiting on what turbo you used?

This would be an infinitely more interesting thread if OP could just be straight with us. It doesn't matter if it's a good idea or not to boost the 2.0, because it sure is interesting.

I mean... if he's got a quality turbo slapped on a car with stock internals... running low boost but dynoed to see what it actually does... tuned to the best ability and seemingly safe and matching what a L15B7 can do on something like a TSP Stage 1 can do on pump gas... I don't see that as terrible. He'd be getting 1/2 again stock power on a former NA engine. If it's leaning out... I'd still thing a tuner could enrich the car and pull some timing to keep it safe... so long as the MAF is reading the airflow right. I'm certainly not a tuner and may be talking out of my ass... I just know of some other older cars that could run low boost pretty much completely stock and be ok.

There's more danger in lying after what the car is and letting it rip. I also don't think from a value perspective running a low-boost K20C2 just to match L15B7 numbers makes sense. I'm sure the cost of parts/labor for the install... it bridged the delta it'd cost between a LX and and sub-touring L15B7. Maybe on much older used cars down the road... but my much less so on now.

Still... budget build to slap a turbo on a LX w/o touching the engine and it all being fine isn't terrible news. Claiming much more money was spent to make it an uber expensive (and... so far as the tuning, seemingly impossible) project while maybe making low/mid-200 whp just... well... sounds like a lot of wasted $$$. I'd think if it was spent... you'd be talking about the cost of the car + parts/labor somewhere between a Si and touring. I don't see how an engine pull, parts replacement. At $100+/hr... non-DITY modding looses it's luster really quick to me. Then again, I'm a cheap bastard. I gave up my '15 Si with a 'big' K24Z7 for this car because the cost to go FI on that still relatively new car that was valued in the mid/high teens made no sense when compared to buy a tiny-motored CivicX Si and gain what the new gen had to offer plus knowing a cheap bump in power would exist since it was already turbocharged.

but... hey... either one might be a good ride.

The idea that a bunch of money might of got poured into this thing, if anything, would make it far less interesting. If I had a chance to but an inexpensive high mileage LX and wanted to show the mildly-modded L15B7 crowd they can be matched... It'd be for peanuts, not the combined car+parts+labor cost of a new car which might not only be better equipped but also have other things (ie suspension, brakes, etc). that set it apart.

I love underdog builds. I'm just not sure this one is all it's cracked up to be. Hopefully the OP will come clean and let us know.
