Does anyone know what the latest version is....or how/where to figure that out? It sucks that we can't update our own - some models of Honda can - just not Civics/CTR/Si. I can even do it myself on my goldwing. I just got my version number - Android ver. 4.2.2 and build number - 1.F1A6.81.

That info + $1.00...might get me a bad cup of coffee somewhere...

So...just got off the chat with Omar...from 'Honda'...he danced around the question, and never really did answer me, other than to say he saw no 'OTA Updates' for my VIN...so I have the latest version...how helpful.

I was under the impression that we had to go to the dealer to have updates done...

What exactly is driving you to look for updates?
Because of the crappy operation/failure. My 10th gen Si had less problems in 4 years than I've had in two weeks with the CTR. Same head unit...same cable...same phone... I thought possibly a firmware update may offer some relief.

What issue are you having? If you are having issues with getting CarPlay to work consistently - I figured out the best sequence -

Turn on car
Unlock phone
Plug in phone
Hit HOME on the top left on the head unit screen
Hit 'Carplay' icon bottom left

Done.

If I do it any other way it's all messed up most of the time - I can't get to the carplay map screen etc.. The way above - consistent every time.

Thanks....I'll try that...there shouldn't need to be some special secret handshake..but I get it...it's tech... It just doesn't make sense to me that it worked on two other vehicles with the same head unit...but the CTR is a special animal....

Oh man I get you believe me and I raged HARD before I figured out this stupid sequence. But I know how craptastic this head unit is and it's not easy to replace due to the integrated AC controls etc. so I just was pleased I found a workaround.

Just be happy I didn't jack with you a bit -

Turn on car
Get out of car, face south, power off then power on phone
Get in car
Turn car so it is facing west (this step is CRUCIAL)
Plug in phone
Hit home
Yell KABLAM (you have to mean it)
Press icon for CarPlay
Enjoy trouble free music listening pleasure

I just uninstalled Waze from iPhone and so far it has not given me any issues whatsoever so far. No specific sequence, it just works everytime.

Before I uninstalled Waze, the infotainment was very problematic. Phone not being recognized, restart infotainment multiple times, etc.

My 20’ updated to F1.A6.81 due to the LogR TSB. I think that’s the latest firmware. I’ve found that a factory reset on the Headunit when it starts acting up clears all the issues.

Any hardcore geek or nerd out there in our little community who can find a way to upgrade the processor brain and internals in the infotainment? And then offer a way for us to send him/her our units for upgrading (a la hondata ecu upgrade)? I would pay to speed up our head units and make them more reliable. Lol.

Wait for the idatalink maestro to support the platform. That will allow you to install any double din + support factory head unit features.

Upgrading the internals of our headunit is not realistically feasable. That’s an entire reverse engineering project.

I've found that if I plug in my phone via a cable, I need to make sure blue tooth is turned off. All my issues (which have been minimal) have gone away.

Others have said the grounding screw has poor contact and if you remove it, re-prep that metal, and re-attach their problems go away. Neither are guaranteed, but both have helped at least some folks.

You may just have handed out the golden ticket (although, I've been fooled before)...but I stopped/started a dozen times today, followed that sequence...and all was great. If it does that consistently for a few days...you win the Internet.
