^^^ 100% what he said.

I prefer the IS350's acceleration from a standstill simply because I'm used to NA (or instant torque from a EV). After 3000 rpm, I prefer the Type R because it pulls harder to red line.

The Acuity shifter is indeed a game changer. It's that good. It's hard to describe in writing because it's all tactile and you really need to feel it for yourself. Anyone who tries it says the same thing. If factory shifter is 8 out of 10, the Acuity would be three times better than that. Anyone from SoCal who wants to check it out send me a PM. I'm not affiliated with Acuity.
As the CTR's my first manual vehicle, it's the only thing I can use as a point of reference for how the transmission is supposed to feel (other than a learner 2014 Camaro). But if you're saying the adjustable shifter makes THAT much of a difference than I'm curious. I have no issues with mine minus 2nd gear weirdness and notchy shifts in other gears sporadically.

The Si is my early mid-life crisis car lol.
Same. I don't have the Si yet (should happen within the next 1-2 weeks) but I'm fully prepared for all of my friends & family to immediately assume I've gone into full-on mid-life crisis mode. Can't even imagine how they'd react if I went with an R. That car is on another level entirely, in every way.

I never got a chance to drive a Type R. My salesman did have a 2019 with Hondata and eth though. He took me for a ride on the hwy and it was an absolute beast. Up to the speed limit of course :D

Watch the first 12 seconds of the following video:

That reaction is enough for me to buy the shifter haha! But seriously, for something you use almost 100 times a day, that should be justification enough for getting the Acuity shift knob!

Also, those IS350s are very nice. I was considering a 2014+ IS350 F-Sport before I bought a car last year. The 8 speed RWD one really comes to life! But I convinced myself that I wouldn't be happy without another manual. I looked at the Accord 2.0t sport manual, but it is HUGE and not sporty enough. I could afford an R, but couldn't really justify it. I was afraid to even drive one because I probably would've bought it on the spot! The Si just fit the bill perfectly for me.

the acuity shifter is a no brainer, truly the best mod you can do. would hope the hybrid one is as good. just be forwarned it comes in a little stiffer than stock. $450??? is nothing for what you get.....every time you drive.
Seems like this thing is the shiznit

Yep. When I drove the Type R I thought, what the hell...why did they make the shifter so good in this car and left out the Si? The Acuity kit makes the shifts damn good. Once you get used to it, it will make mis-shifts, especially those 2nd gear ones everyone complains about a thing of the past. Brought to you by... Acuity!

I pretty much had my mid-life crisis when I was 44 (I wish, I wish it was as simple as a car...sigh), but when I bring one of these home one of these days, you'll know I'm going thru a second one

Very nice I put more trust in a Japanese Performance sedan than a German sedan there are no American performance sedans but believe me there are some people that think a Mercedes and BMW are American o_O
Btw about 10 years ago I was looking at a sc400
Early nineties the car looked great but sitting in it and driving it I realized that the car was pretty much trashed I walked away from that deal

I can’t *wait* for my midlife crisis car. I’m probably going to retire from the military at 21 years in... and will be 41. It feels like the perfect storm of car-buying. Only about 4 more years left!

This is my mindset as well. Honestly about 75% of my reasoning on why I decided against buying the new supra. I just dont trust euro cars. I just wish toyota or lexus would come out with an updated version of the ISF. That car was perfection.

Actually the C5 Corvette and on are true American performance cars. They can hang with and out compete most European performance cars, curvy roads and all. And they have very reliable engines, and parts are cheap. They shouldn't really have the bad name they have. I wouldn't buy one because I might as well wear a t-shirt saying "Midlife crisis"

The day I retire is the day they find me dead and rotting in my office. I love what I do way to much. Hopefully my friend there will be no wars between now and your retirement. Many former military personal I know have gone into either law enforcement, or "security consulting"

It's a long story, but the new Supra is reliable. Toyota drove BMW crazy and made them reengineer everything down to the last bolt

Naw... the day after I retire from the military, I have to grow up and get a real job. I ran off to join up after 9/11 and every time it came time to re-enlist or get out, I decided I just loved it too much to give it up. I plan I’m working until either I can’t work anymore or money is such that I don’t have to work anymore to maintain a standard of living that allows me to reasonably do anything I want AND working is taking me away from doing the things I enjoy. I’m a creature of pressure... like a deep sea animal that’d literally explode if it came too shallow. If I didn’t have a job, I’d be volunteering away much of my spare time just to stay busy and feel like I was accomplishing something.

You're lucky you have a job you love. I’m getting old to continue doing the submarine thing... and there are fewer days ahead than behind. I’m not sure I’ll find something that’ll ever compare when I’m done. I just wrapped up a bachelors degree program I worked on while on shore duty, to try and make myself more valuable/relevant on the outside. Degree is supposed to be here in March. I hope there’ll be something that doesn’t bore me to tears, regardless of the money involved, when it’s time to grow up. I’m not feeling very hopeful...
