The production for the Gen X Type R was so minimal from Honda's original plans with a 4 month 2017 run to a covid pandemic, to a chip shortage. This car will continue to go up in value for years to come. Once the Gen XI comes they will be bought up by eager waiters but the stock will not see the low levels of production the 10th gen had. Hold on to them, just my 2 cents. Thats why dealers are paying 40k for used ones, they know they are going to make money. Demand determines the market and it's hard to not be in demand for all the issues that occurred during the 10th Gen's production. The more people that hold them the more the demand increases.

Yeah. I don’t expect the gen xi to come anytime earlier than 2023. Honda has the tradition of 2-3 year gapping between each gen type r in their European market. Regular civics make them much more $$$ than the type R. But the look of 2022 civic…………way too mature for type R. People are right, CTRs are toys.

Congrats! Picked mine up two nights ago, also at MSRP. This is a special car.

Nice! I was between the BB and SG. I like the blue but my wife said she will kill me if I get anything else in blue. All my shoes, shirts, everything are blue. :)

SGP is great! My previous sport hatch was SGP and it was just gorgeous. Would have been my second choice if not for BB!

OP - I envy you so much.

I was on the lookout since November 2020. Everyone was asking 5K-10k over MSRP in FL and surrounding states. Clearly, I wasn't willing to pay over MSRP.
In March my old car says no more and needed something fast.
Picked up a new 21 Ridgeline RTL-E for less than a CTR MSRP.
Keep in mind that the RTL-E MSRP is a couple of thousands higher than the CTR.
Crazy right?

If you are still in the market, I know a few dealers will do $500-1000 over sticker, but I believe you can talk them down to MSRP.

Check the resale on it you could probably part with it and get a Type R without a loss. Good luck with whatever you decide but the Type R is amazing.

Congrats to quite a few folks here getting a new CTR at MSRP.
Sharing something interesting with you - My local dealer in Seattle offered to buy my car. The first letter was for $31,500 maybe 6 months ago. And last week, I received another letter for $36,500. Mine is a 2018 with 19K miles.
The used car market for CTR is insane !! I honestly paid a small dealer markup back then, but $36,500 means almost no depreciation. By the way, the 11th gen exterior loses a lot of the sportiness, sadly.
Cheers,

Agreed. The 11th gen would be like the current gen STI and golf R. More mature, but I like the 10th gen teen look.

Yeah 10th gen is where it's at.... aggressive full swing for the fences with styling - and those that hate on it can enjoy looking at the rear of it while it defies physics through a turn in front of them. lol!

How long did you have it and how many miles you put on the clock? Or you just flip the CTR right away?
3 months/1350 miles. Been buying cars for a long time and have never been thru a market like this. It’s total insanity and I love it!

Congrats! I just picked up my SGP over the weekend too. I bought it out in Kentucky but I had to drive it back to NY. 800 mile trip, but this car is amazing! First car I bought brand new, and I am loving it. I wasnt as lucky as you, I ended up paying $500 over sticker but I figured $500 was do-able.
