So, just came back from Wet Okole and had my covers installed. Took under 2 hrs and the installer did a great job. As the title says I shot a bunch of random photos while he was getting the covers ready, during the install and also the completion.
Just to bring those of you not familiar who they are, WO manufactures custom neoprene seat covers here in So Cal. My CTR is the 10th vehicle I have had these covers installed from my 95 GSR to 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport. Once I saw how the CTR seats were designed and all the posts regarding durability and wear, I knew this would be a wise investment.
First thing, it is all about protection, fit and finish, comfort and finally styling. I wanted to keep the seats to appear OEM as possible, so prior to going to the shop, I was planning on using the same color combo as factory.
Originally, my rep Noeme advised me that the red they used was prone to fading if exposed in the sun for an extended period of time. I told her my windows and windshield are all tinted and car is garaged at home and work. Once I saw their carbon fiber sample, I knew that was what I wanted and went with cf and red in the fronts, black and cf in the rears.
The shop said because of Honda copyrights, they could not include the Type R logo like stock. I ordered some racing tags from Amazon and they were nice enough to sew those on without any additional charge. Once the fronts were installed, my installer realized they were a little loose and quickly had their QC dept tighten them up. Fit and finish is great. I love my color and pattern choices but others may find the CF a bit busy. Driving home, the covers add an extra layer of cushion all around and was extremely comfortable.
So a couple things I want to add, I requested if they could use red stitching, but said they only use black. Didn’t realize red was such a difficult color to replace black stitching with. The CF pattern could be slightly darker but I guess over time it will darken with use.
I plan on keeping the car the long haul and plan to hand it down to my boys (once they know how to drive stick) so keeping the interior covered for now so they can enjoy it later once the covers have been beat up Is my plan. I no longer have to use my Walmart Honda beach towel to keep my sweaty work shirts from staining my seats. Ingress and egress is much easier since sliding over the big bolsters is no longer an issue.
For those of you are interested, I would highly recommend them especially if its your dd. They are not cheap but they cut me a big deal/discount for allowing them to keep my CTR overnight for measurements. Considering this was their first FK8, they did a kickass job.
