Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 0BBADE39-2ECF-47D3-99B2-FCECAB25A070

With the lower connectors undone, pulled the head unit out to expose the rear connectors.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 8AB3A59D-7C9D-497F-827C-ACE11D6B904D

Lots of plugs. Fortunately, they can only be plugged in (1) way. But it's still a good idea to take pictures for reference.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 976468E9-73F2-46EB-919A-BC69AB7B94CE

Started unplugging.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 35A68DF1-F9BA-4707-BBFF-095AEDB721B5

Each connector had some type of release tab.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 009806CC-3FF9-4AB3-A307-30450111CE21

Once all connectors were unplugged, removal of the head unit was complete. :)

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R DF1577A3-F730-4931-A604-061AD6DE993B

Carefully separated this piece, but didn’t pull too hard for fear of snapping it. It's just held in place by plastic clips and the vent itself.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 06D468D5-E4E6-4CB9-9207-3CCC805490D7

This is the maximimum you'd want to pull, but even this was probably more than what was needed. Notice how the cardboard is getting populated by the screws removed. Such a great trick to stay organized. :)

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 41ACD608-A64E-4C90-868A-A25366C608C6

Finessed the vent section using this wide and thin spatula shaped pry tool. Gotta be careful not to leave indent marks on the dash, which is soft.

Next to come off, was the the driver's side dash trim. Started by lifting the upper half of the steering column.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R C48BE3CC-8C26-40B7-B56B-9DB83BC11108

Then freed the plastic clips securing the column cover. The cover is tethered to the dash trim by a cloth cowl, so didn't pull it off.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 333F19DF-9D74-46EC-9EAB-976729DF6FD5

Grabbed this corner and carefully separated it from the dash.

Received this package from RV6 today.

B11DC36B-C036-4B25-8109-E9C96DE1D654.jpeg

Inside is one of ten beta test units for the RV6 R660 Red ball bearing big turbocharger. :p

DC5B5BAE-C058-464E-B2E1-C94A456A5F3B.jpeg

Here is what was contained in the package. Quoted the details RV6 shared on their post here

6EF0227A-F014-454A-9352-58DC518FDDCE.jpeg

Wow. I wasn't overly tempted by previous turbo offerings... though had given some thought to the MHI. But RV6 is a brand I trust and believe in so decided to see if they'd accept me as a beta tester and they did. I was a little late to the show, but got in at the last minute as their 9th tester.

Build quality appears excellent as one would expect.

494526BB-910C-42F3-89C6-E2E0CA6B8BBD.jpeg

Though my engine is not built and I won't be chasing big power numbers for fear of blowing the stock engine, my tuner Ben Salasko believes this larger turbo is definitely worth upgrading to and will improve performance even on a conservative track tune.

25C6C4C2-214E-481E-878E-B40E978D2155.jpeg

Not 100% sure but believe my car is the only Motec tuned Type R in the initial beta test group, so hopefully will be able to provide RV6 some useful albeit different test feedback.

19DCF8CB-32DB-4FC2-91E4-18BEA6139CA9.jpeg
One thing I hadn't considered before committing to beta test, is thought I have an XDI HPFP with drilled fuel line, the safety factor will increase with larger fuel injectors, so plan to upgrade those at the same time. Abit of work lies ahead, once my schedule eases abit and I'm able to tear into the car again. Anticipating some fun times and impressive results. :)
IS this going to fit under the Dream Automotive Hard Lagged Heat Shield?

Unsure, however it might since the shield is in pieces and bolts on. Won't know until I get time to try. For now, gotta find time to finish uploading the dash write up and put the interior back together, heh.

Just FYI, I didn't even know it was a thing, but you can get Rodent Tape

"Rodent tape is a deterrent for critters that like to chew vehicle wiring. Wrap any trouble spots to prevent any future wire harness issues. The tape is treated with capsaicin (active component in chili peppers). When wrapping the harness it is recommended to use the half-wrapping method. Each time you wrap the tape around the harness overlap the previous layer by half the width of the tape. One roll = ~65 feet of tape."
