Thank you. Sometimes have second thoughts whether it would have been better posting to the general discussion section for more visibility… however didn’t anticipate my OCD tendencies going out of control, as it often does, when creating this thread. 😂

Thanks for this awesome thread, it should be pinned.

Lol that is awesome every time I see someone making it all the way through. Didn’t imagine this thread would hit 67 pages, but here we are. 😂

Still have a few more things planned for the car, but just need to find time and energy to work on it again. Have several parts that have been sitting on the shelf way too long 🤦‍♂️

Always glad to hear the content was helpful. Though I share as many tips and tricks as possible, some of the mods do require some finesse and patience… but they are all very doable. No problems to report so far with any installed mods. :)

I've finally made it to the end lol what a ride. Quite the attention to detail here. This is hard to find alot of people want to just slap parts together.

My mod progress is slow going because I'm always trying to make sure it's perfect lol I feel your pain.

This thread definitely kept my OCD at ease. Good build man. Hope to see more.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 187A5F51-E950-4BB8-9DBB-19D280C4573A

Apologies for the lack of meaningful updates lately. In addition to focusing on improving my health (sigh), the work schedule remains hectic and with summer here, have shifted to the “other” obsession and reason the Type R isn’t a proper garage queen.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R C4AAFFA5-6629-4217-B775-AB7B76F40B59

Tracked down these original arcade game posters last summer and had them framed. Just got around to hanging them last week

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R F1A40476-A62D-4CD0-8838-CBD90211303A

Clunky arcade games with a tendency to break really triggers the OCD. For example this marquee (header) light that doesn’t work like the others bothers me… it’s not the bulb so will have to figure out why.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R DE23FA84-8313-4813-82F7-DBF66835E3C7

*update* Found the entire fluorescent fixture needed to be replaced. So much better now… this is soothing to the OCD.

Currently have 9 or so of these with more serious issues, not working and needing attention and beyond my limited electronic repair skills to fix.

Fortunately, have several old school tech buddies helping me when they are able and (2) of my grails are fully operational:
  • Spy Hunter sitdown
  • Afterburner Deluxe

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R FC7CDB76-4650-4738-8C30-491CB3D80A37
Have been performing some needed maintenance tasks on Afterburner… Just in time for the new Top Gun movie, which we haven’t had time to see yet.

As far as the FK8 goes, still need to install:
  • JRZ RS Pro coilovers
  • RV6 suspension gear
  • Sliplo for the J’s lip
Hopefully will find time over the next few months to do so. :)

Thank you @BoostedDreams and @fatherpain
Here is the link to the red stripe delete post that’s buried somewhere in this Journal, 😂
Don’t remove it, cover it up. I used something like this. 1/4” black tape 3M. It conceals it perfectly. I eventually missed the red stripe and just peeled off the black tape.

Now the decision to buy the carbon tape or send it and get either seibon or j's carbon lip lol

Would it be possible to remove the hp fuel line without removing the IM since you can clearly see the nut from under the car?

I did it this way, yes. I did the drilled fuel line and pump without removing too many things. No lines or hoses were undone only shifted here and there. Hardest part was removing the bracket hahaha. The bracket wasn't even that bad though.

I watched a YouTube video where the guy said he and a buddy were able to access it that way.

I tried and was able to remove the line. But it was overly painful, difficult, frustrating and time consuming.. only to discover I couldn’t get the radius needed to tighten the HP fuel fitting when it was time to go back, so the intake manifold ended up having to come off anyway.

I could only reach the fitting from the top and with the intake manifold in the way, it was ridiculous. For me at least haha. My arms were way too short to reach up from underneath the car.

Removing the intake manifold was super easy in comparison to trying to work around it… and considering it’s the fuel line, want to make sure everything lined up perfect and properly tightened when all goes back together ;)

*Whelp* this is a first . Haven't been driving the good old CTR lately due to high gas prices and reduced street drive-ability from the J's Racing lip that was installed. Been meaning to apply Sliplo to protect it, but have been laser focused on the arcade hobby lately so haven't made time.

Summer's here and it's been getting hotter so left the window's cracked a couple inches about a week ago. Bad idea.

Drove the car to work this morning, noticed small debris on the dash, but didn't get a chance to really look at it until now. A couple of the defroster vents look like they've been chewed through WTH?

Guessing a squirrel or rat somehow climbed in. Gnawed to their hearts content and jumped back out. :dunno:

Like a dog chewing a bone or a cat tearing up some curtains I guess. On the plus side, it doesn't appear the vermin took a dump or pissed in the car. On the negative, my buddy @boosted180sx says the entire dashboard will need to come off to replace and it is a pain in the @ss... So expect a detailed post sometime in the not too distant future. *sigh*

Good news is the defroster trim is available. $70 from Hondapartsnow.com however shipping is $133. Aw hell nah!

Gonna pick this one up at a local dealership instead. $122 is the list price. Hopefully can get a price break through my nephew.

Haven’t driven the car much this year… but took it to Vegas and back a couple days ago. Still drives like a champ.

Signed up for a long overdue track day Saturday 8/6/22 @Streets of Willow with the Los Angeles Shelby club. This will be my 2nd time attending Dralle day.

Had a blast with them (2) years ago and several buddies are going also, including @Sam3.

Cost is a reasonable $155, so if any Type R owners are interested in joining us, please drop a PM. Beginners welcome, we can show you the ropes :)

Doing an oil change in preparation and noticed symptoms of a boost leak, probably from when the XDI HPFP was installed. Not enough to trigger a CEL, but idle fluctuates intermittently. Will run a leak test and fix.

Also have some Sliplo to apply to the underside of the J’s Racing lip, which already has some scrapes and scuffs.

Heh, T2 the arcade game is coincidentally positioned right next to it.

Thank you, yes the OCD ran abit unchecked when adding to the car, lol.

Still have a few more parts to add, but have been laser focused trying to get the garcade the way I‘d like it to be…

But coilovers and suspension mods will likely be the next project to tackle.

Btw, post #1 has a clickable table of contents if searching for a specific mod or maintenance item.

Damn side by side. Perfect placement for those two arcade cabinets.

Only handling part I got ordered right now is the 27Won front strut tower bar. I'll look more in depth into this thread since I have barely glanced over it but seems like a lot of helpful info and some parts I might be interested in future.

Final thoughts on the Superstik. DO NOT BUY. Leaks by under hard driving. Took a closer look in the daylight as that Si owner experiencing the fitment issue asked for a barrel measurement. It appears you can get pretty much the same thing by simply removing the plastic orange tip from the OEM dipstick, lol. I feel kinda dumb now (and $89 poorer) heh.

Kicking myself now for not thinking of that before *bonk*

Another angle of it installed. My buddy Boosted180sx suggests I put the stock on back on and use this only when I need a measurement, lol.
Were you able to remove the orange part of the stock dipstick?

Had (2) track days on 2/16/20 and 4/3/20, but haven’t driven the car much overall due to recent projects.... But decided to check the Radium oil catch cans anyway. First was the PCV version, which is always a carpal tunnel inducing endeavor to remove and reinstall. I plan to install Radium’s remote petcock drain kit later today.

5142FCC2-1838-4B2B-A67B-D5CCA201D9F1.jpeg

As expected, here is what was in the PCV side..

8AAA6581-D5E3-4C9B-B934-76CD8EDB775C.jpeg

Was going to stop there, because I‘ve never caught anything in the CCV oil catch can. Boosted180sx suggested checking it anyway. Sure thing, why not?

Despite how this looks, the CCV is easier to unscrew than the PCV side.

3B4D1C2C-23B9-4D94-A249-6BAC6A7E2172.jpeg

Whoa!!! The CCV oil catch can did collect some oil! What the heck? Was totally surprised (and happy) to see this.

The way the Radium CCV catch can hoses are routed, I didn’t see how oil could ever pass through the CCV and mistakenly thought it a waste of money and have stated that when asked about it.

I stand corrected.

Boosted180sx explained under high RPM use like what occurs at the track, a vacuum is created and oil can get sucked up. The oil caught would have passed through the inlet and probably fouled the intercooler.

Glad to have the Radium dual oil catch can system after all:bow:

9A2962A5-48EF-4F16-9306-7854A119D2FC.jpeg

While the CCV was easier to unscrew than the PCV can, it was impossible to reinstall. Came up with this alternate method:

Remove the (2) mounting bolts.

679BE637-05D6-4C53-B31C-B0F5E029B177.jpeg

With those out, there is plenty of play in the hoses to lift the CCV can up and out. It’s really easy to service it this way.

9B94775C-7278-49B1-A2E3-403DDBCB5B8F.jpeg

Close up of the Radium catch can internals and dipstick. Can see oil residue on the baffle.

99D56603-BFE2-45FE-BABF-BB555899A35D.jpeg

So much easier to thread the can back on like this. I’m a firm believer in the motto: “smarter not harder” ?

706BAC07-EE49-4FCB-A6CF-19D1A2AB38D1.jpeg

Re-applied anti-seize to the mounting bolts then reinstalled the catch can.

160AE0FE-5902-4E41-9A4C-AA0A2C949D50.jpeg

Then torqued to Radium’s suggested 95 ft-lbs. CCV oil catch can ready for my next track day which will be 5/17/20 at Streets of Willow. :drive:
Still not seeing much accumulation in the CCV can? Think I only really need the PCV can. 2 track days a year (not at 10/10ths) and some autocross. 99% daily driving miles with some fun on-ramps and such.

No, but haven’t made an attempt. Using the OEM dipstick, but bring out the Superstick to verify proper level whenever performing an oil change.
