Gave the car a much needed wash. Had a month’s worth of garage dust + the dried radiator fluid that needed to come off.

Really enjoy washing the car. Especially at night or early morning when it’s quiet and cool... Rock some tunes on a bluetooth speaker and just work. Find it very relaxing and takes about an hour to set up, do the wheels, exterior, dry then clean up.

Have considered pickIng up a deionized water rinse machine to eliminate the need to dry, but not sure how much time that saves versus the cost of replacement filter cartridges.

Was a good opportunity to test the rain guard for the J’s Racing hood and it worked like a champ.

Signed up for a Streets of Willow track day on 8/22/20. Time frame is doable, however my schedule is a bit compressed, plus there are a few things to do for the car to be track ready:
  • PPF and ceramic the J’s hood, grill and rear fender extensions.
  • Adjust the Acuity reverse flow radiator hoses for proper air gap. Visited my buddy boosted180sx and he noticed the hoses were touching. Not sure how that happened... Could have sworn the fitment was correct :dunno:
  • Swap center caps for hub centric rings.
  • Bleed brakes.
  • Locate the source of a ringing sound that is noticeable when coasting down at low speed. Suspect it could be a heat shield rubbing the DP/FP, but need to verify. Might switch back to the thicker OEM FP/DP gasket.
  • Install bracketeer and fire extinguisher
  • Spray down engine bay

Incredible the result, you also washed the engine that was a little dirty due to the explosion of coolant

Whew motec, what type of numbers are you going to be sitting at after motec? Are you aiming for a specific number or shooting as high as possible?

Apologies, but I don’t really have a firm idea and have limited knowledge (zippo actually) about tunes, so this will be a learning process and will let an expert have at it, but need to research who to trust the car with.

With the parts it has, thinking 400-410HP might be possible. But don’t want to bend rods or blow the engine... so might request a conservative tune and a lower number. Don’t have plans to build the engine at this point.

The car, as is, feels really responsive and is fast enough for my taste. Pleased with the recent upgrades. Looking forward to seeIng how the car performs with the bolt on parts fully activated. Should be pretty nuts:drive:

This may sound abit odd (or stupid, heh)... but one reason going Motec...besides the positive feedback from those that have it, having more control and keeping upgrade paths open...

wanted to properly run an HKS BOV on a speed density tune, heh. My buddy boosted180sx thinks I’m a little  and he’s probably right, ?

The PWR radiator instructions say it’s imperative to test for the presence of electrolysis that could lead to premature failure. This is a good check for any brand of radiator.

Here is the test instructions from PWR.

Set up a multimeter to read current (A).
0.01 is essentially zero.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R B899176B-B4B3-4BE5-B21A-7DF94C659F44

Touched one lead to the negative terminal on the battery...

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R EA5CA178-76E4-421F-AEC2-FC937F26B484

My buddy opened the radiator cap and inserted the other lead directly into to the radiator fluid, without touching the sides. Kept the other lead on the negative terminal.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R 834E011B-B1FE-496E-93B5-B235F86E04AF

Checked the reading and it still read 0.01 amps. So no electrical short or electrolysis present. Reinstalled the radiator cap. All good :)

Heh np. Just passing along stuff I’m learning as each task is completed. Hopefully these adventures will save headaches for others if attempting similar problems. As far as cars are concerned...nothing is worse than messing something up and disabling your car, heh. I know from first hand experience

Drove the car yesterday and noticed some of the intake rubber hoses were pressed up against the J’s Racing hood vent mesh.

Honda Civic 10th gen Fatherpain’s 2018 Type R E98B2564-6AA5-4F46-97CF-E83EB6E15EDC

Can see where the hose was rubbing in red. Fortunately an easy fix. Loosened these (3) hose clamps and rotated the hoses and Eventuri MAF tube down and out of the way.

Problem solved. Quick and easy for a change. Goes to show, it’s always good practice to keep inspecting the car, especially after tinkering with it ;)

Drove from SoCal to Vegas today to surprise my mom on her birthday. Don’t really get to see her as much as I’d like.. or should... but she just hit 71 years old and thankfully is still going strong :)

Drive was effortless, in 103F heat and going up hill most of the time. Power was always available and the temperature gauge never moved over (4) hours of “elevated” driving.

Pushed the car a little, when the road was open and no one was around, to check the stability of the J’s Racing hood. Was not rattling or bouncing around at high speed....so cautiously optimistic hood pins may not be needed...though may eventually do it for safety.

Have been getting CELs related to the DP/O2 sensor. Will switch orifice restrictors in the Vibrant defouler tube to see if that fixes the issue, or it can be resolved when the car is finally tuned.

Re-watched Aliens (1986) for the umpteenth time... Movie never gets old and hard to believe it’s almost been 35 years since seeing this in the theater

Came to the realization Vasquez, one of the baddest of the colonial marines....

I need to take more detailed pictures or simply create my "Build Journal" and stop being intimidated of creating one... Anyway, here's my custom hood - we installed Aerocatch, took it to the track and there was no rattling. Regardless I love the look of the Aerocatch hood pins. We didn't install the OEM latch in the center so my hood is just relying on the hood pins but I feel safe about the install.

Aliens!! Hell yeah!! My wife won't sit and watch it with me ):

Do you see significant change using the reverse flow radiator hoses?
