For those who own the Type R, Si, or Hatchback, does anyone else have fading on that shiny gloss plastic piece on the back bumper that meets the silver body paint in the pics below? You can see the white-ish discoloration from what I would assume is fading, it is quite noticeable and is happening on both sides.

That's not faded. It has been abraded. What did you use to clean that area? Almost looks like you used steel wool or brush.

You can tell by the swirl marks that is has been abraded not faded. Change your washing method.

Wow. My guess would be car wash, im too lazy to hand wash it and there arent many touchless car washes by me. Is there a way to reverse this?

Paint over it with black paint, and hand-wash using good soap. My Number 1 recommendation is Reset by Carpro. That stuff is highly concentrated and works so well after washing my + other cars tens of times over the summer, I barely used less than a quarter. It literally only takes a few drops to dilute a 5 gallon bucket. Makes my car shine for days, and water beads. A+++++

You could try Meguires PlastX? Probably won’t work but worth a try rather than going right to painting it.

You could try wrapping it. I'm not sure how easy that piece is to pop out, or if you're able to pop it out at all.

Isn’t that part painted gloss black? Maybe some polish would bring some shine back to it

Yupp as others stated, try polishing it with PlastX. If that doesn't work, then you will need to repaint those pieces. That definitely looks like abrasion and not just "sun fading" sadly.

You should get some "Forever Black", automotive exterior trim dye to put on this trim
