I saw some news blurbs about this, but nothing official. Along with the TSB fix for the oil dillution issue, to engender confidence and good will Honda is going to extend the warranty to six years on the 2016-2018 Turbo Civics and CRVs?

I guess the 2019 is "fixed", as the warranty extension doesn't apply. Don't know what they really did to "fix" it besides the software patch that the TSB covered.

Any more info would be appreciated as it develops.

6 years unlimited mileage was on my bulletin. This is awesome for me as I have 40k Kms on it in one year... power train in Canada was 5yr/10000km.

So the only way of knowing is by checking the dipstick yourself? I doubt honda would say anything if they noticed too much oil had drained.

Wow. I remember using the 10 year warranty of the Korean cars as an argument/joke towards Korean cars fan boys by telling them "You're going to need it." but it looks like Korean cars are on a solid track on stumping Honda in terms of quality and reliability.

Before we bought the 2018 Civic my wife's previous car was a 1989 Camry which was 29 years old. A 6 year warranty doesn't seem a lot.

How to be proactive about this? Constantly check dipstick?
No, the good news is, you don't need to check it constantly!
Just check it every time you refuel, as recommended by Honda in the Owner's Manual for any of their cars, and by most any other car manufacturer since always. Oil dilution or no oil dilution.

I just saw the articles this afternoon and I can't at all say that I am impressed. I am fortunate to have a 2.0NA but this is not at all good for resale or for the future as this is a major chink in the armor of the invincible Honda engines. I really believe that Honda should be doing the properly honorable Japanese thing over this and release a whole new engine to replace this clearly flawed 1.5T and then replace it under a full recall.

At this point, I think that even the 1.5T in the Accord could be considered suspect for premature wear and who knows on the 2.0T as there are nowhere near as many of those in circulation for us to all know for sure what the real mechanical state of these engines are.

Regardless, this is a stop buy and a stop recommend on ANY Honda with a turbo GDI or even GDI engine. I am telling my parents, who were going to get a CRV in the near future, to stay away from them entirely until this issue is sufficiently addressed or the return to making the CRV with the venerable K24.

I know this is going to get some reaction but it is worth saying... Scotty Kilmer wasn't so wrong was he... Old, cheap and miserly but certainly expecting he is going to gloat on this one for sure.

Same case here. My urge to get rid of mine is so real I almost pulled the trigger when I was in a Toyota dealer yesterday. Good thing I remember that its still ideal to make the jump in the year end's Toyotathon so at least the big discount will compensate for the immediate drive off the lot depreciation of the one the I currently have.
