CivicX had the pleasure of attending an exclusive Honda event tonight in Los Angeles where Honda, in collaboration with Thrillist and JackThreads, unveiled the HT3 limited edition driving sneaker inspired by the 2016 Honda Civic!

It was an intimate and lively event attended by a mix of folks from the automotive and fashion worlds held at the art-design-decor shop Hemingway and Pickett. The walls were filled with pictures of the 2016 Civic and the design inspirations behind the very fashion-forward HT3 driving shoe.

For all those interested, the HT3 goes on sale tomorrow exclusively on JackThreads.com.

Thanks to Honda for inviting us to the event! Check out photos and press release below.

PRESS RELEASE:

Thrillist, JackThreads and Honda Team Up to Create Exclusive HT3 Driving Shoe

HT3 limited edition shoe design reflects styling cues of 2016 Honda Civic

NEW YORK, NY (March 30, 2016) –Thrillist, JackThreads and Honda have collaborated on an exclusive limited edition HT3 Driving Shoe (MSRP: $100) that goes on sale today, available exclusively on JackThreads.com. The sneaker is inspired by the dramatically redesigned, all-new 2016 Honda Civic, and pays tribute to the three core aspects of Honda design that influenced its sporty and dynamic styling – high touch, high tension and high tech.

With the idea conceived by the team at Thrillist, the digital publisher tapped the style geniuses at JackThreads to bring the shoe to life. Working with Honda R&D America’s Jarad Hall, who helped lead the exterior design of the Civic Sedan in North America, JackThreads developed the driving shoe to reflect the vehicle’s design throughout the HT3 sneaker, including the high quality materials used in the shoe’s development and the seamless silhouette of the shoe itself. The sneakers feature premium materials, including sleek suede with metallic hints and a quilted leather pattern on the heel counter and insole. To ensure a comfortable and snug fit, the HT3 has a neoprene vamp that fits securely over the top of the driver’s foot and articulated nodes that wrap around the wearer’s ankle, to provide additional support. The smooth lines of the Civic exterior inspired the clean lines of the sneaker. To cover the laces, JackThreads developed a suede shroud that fastens into place, and when uncovered, reveals the Civic logo.

“We wanted to create a shoe that’s unlike anything seen before – something that is as comfortable to wear as it is fashion-forward and futuristic,” said Michael Vincent, Senior Buyer, Footwear at JackThreads. “The HT3 is a great versatile sneaker that elevates the basic functionality of the driving shoe and marries the design aesthetic of Honda and JackThreads.”

“Collaborating with JackThreads and Thrillist to develop an exclusive shoe for people who love driving and love the sporty new Honda Civic has been a great experience,” said Jarad Hall, Civic Senior Exterior Designer, Honda R&D Americas. “Our all-new Civic lineup is a real game changer in its segment when it comes to styling and fun to drive spirit, and we look forward to stepping into the footwear world with a premium limited edition shoe that showcases just how remarkable the Civic is, inside and out.”

The exclusive limited edition HT3 Driving Shoe was officially debuted alongside the 2016 Honda Civic at a special event on March 29 in Los Angeles, hosted by Thrillist.

I don't understand the suede cover over the laces looks awful and where is the Honda logo on them? Does the suede cover come all the way off I feel they would look a lot better if it did

There are two TSB's out for these. One, sometimes you can't walk smoothly between 3-5 MPH. The other is sometimes you can't get them to walk at all, and have to take them off and put them back on.

 misset shoe lace ring could cause the laces to come undone under brisk walking.

Ah yes. Only a very few are affected though. But you have to give up your shoes for awhile so they can be partially disassembled to check. But they'll be glued back together with whatever glue the mechanic decides to use, torqued if the mechanic isn't lazy, and will be good as new!

Aren't driving shoes supposed to have a curved heel to better work the pedals, as opposed to balancing on a 90 degree angle?

Love the artificial, but that pair of shoes...
I can't see any relations towards the Civic X. Maybe the material and build quality is of high standards, but the style and functionality of it is...
