EU front license plate holder clips

We removed the front license plate holder but now there are two metal clips visible. Is there a way to remove these without taking apart the front bumper?

I reckon you'll have to remove the bumper, but it's not actually a huge job on this car so don't be too worried.

What did you end up doing? I have the same issue now with my fk8.. Also, did you try those bumper plugs?

The metal pieces are still there, I was too lazy to take off the bumper.

The body colored bumper plugs sold in the US are designed for smaller diameter holes. Holes in the EU bumpers are too big.
