You mean octane? Yeah, it's the same. But there's more to gas than just its octane rating.
not really, octane rating is how we pick what fuel we put in our cars. the rest is not value added

It sure is of value. You probably have never noticed since you're from NC, which also has good gas like California.

Again, people dont shop for gasoline based on additives. I run 93 in my car, from who ever has it the cheapest, because it all comes from the same place anyway.

Costco gas has worked best for me so far, Chevron comes next.
Costco gas has never failed me or any of my cars over the last 10 years. And it usually .40 to .55 cents cheaper than other stations nearby. I just filled up my Lexus on Friday, and premium was $2.59

Plus I get 4 percent back on top of that

There's a California premium on everything...
And a Wisconcin premium apparently. ?

Jokes aside, I have noticed the gap between regular and premium has been worse lately. Hopefully it will come down as fuel prices stabilize.

Here the gap between Regular and Premium (at least at Costco) is only .20 cents. It's the gap between gas prices between California and other states that sucks...

Btw, I think the civicX platform can run up to 15% ethanol correct? (E15) if so, mixing e85 with gas that already has 10% ethanol in it could probably make things go wonky.

I don't think theres any gas stations in California than run pure 91 octane gas with 0% ethanol....

Here's some results:

I'm referring to those without flex fuel mods
Ok, it stillt has been advised to splash a gallon or so to give it more knock resistance by the leaders of our tuning industry.

E14 is only 4% higher than what my car read 93 at. Wouldn't even think twice about it causing issues on a gas tune

NC already has 93 pump gas. In California, we don't.

Most (if not all) 91 octane gas in California ALREADY has 10% ethanol in it (making it E10). Mixing E85 with 91/E10 will net higher ethanol percentages than blending E85 with E0 gas.

1.5 gallons E85 + 10.5 gallons 91/E10 = 19% Ethanol/93.1 Octane

1.5 gallons E85 + 10.5 gallons 91/E0 = 11% Ethanol/93.1 Octane

Manual states the civicX platform can handle up to E15 safely. Whether that extra 4% actually does any damage is beyond me, but putting only 1 gallon of e85 and 11 gallons of 91/E10 already puts it at 16% ethanol while only getting 92.4 octane (assuming e85 is 108 octane).

Point being, I'd be cautious about putting anything more than E15 on a car that isn't designed to run so without adding flex fuel mods to it.

I know ethanol can retain moisture and cause some corrosion so just wanted to see if anyone has done the e85 addition to 91 octane
I talked to John from Phearable and asked him if it was ok to add some E85 to 91 and he said a gallon won't be a problem. I live in California too and prior to adding in some E85 my knock control would be at .80, now it stays at .49. Also TSP said the same thing that its fine to add some E85

The highest ethanol content in E85 is really only ever 82%. The highest I've ever observed is 80%, but usually it's between 70 and 80%.

If a certain amount of E85 is going to give you over 15% ethanol. . . use less E85. . . It's really easy to calculate what will give you E15, there's even apps for it.

Before I had a flex fuel kit I used to splash some E85 in with the 91, which is (obviously) way cheaper than race fuel.

Just err on the side of caution and target 15% ethanol assuming 82% in the E85 and you'll be fine.
