Hello,

It will be very informative to establish a list of some major OEM's that have supplied Honda with parts to build this 10th Gen CIVIC.
I think that it will be cool to know who makes a part or another (example : LED headlights, head unit, speakers, seats, AC system, etc). I think that it will help us know more about the car and judge the overall quality of the components.

Exedy.... sad 1.5T clutch. Most say we should not blame them since the clutch was built to Honda’s specifications.

Thank you for the first reply on this thread ;). But what makes Exedy such a bad OEM supplier for clutches ? Any previous problems or just there is better OEM's in this field ? Does the 2.0 non-turbo engine feature the same clutches from Exedy. Thank you in advance. :)

That’s the thing, Exedy is generally considered a trusted supplier. If they made the clutch to Honda’s specificatoins, then Honda is the one that dropped the ball.

Clutch works fine if you don’t modify the car. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect Honda to save you money by putting a clutch in the car that it doesn’t require stock. Do you want to modify? upgrade the clutch.

Eh, there have been multiple cases of the clutch failing on unmodified Si's. Modifying certainly does help speed up the process though.

I’ll say that’s user error most likely abuse from boy racers. I bet you could learn to drive stick for the first time on this car and not even have a problem

That may be the case, it's hard to say. One thing that is for sure is that most vehicles in this "segment" include clutches that will handle a fair bit of modding before they let go. While that isn't Honda's responsibility, we certainly were not given that with the 1.5T clutch. The 2.0 Type R clutch seems to be handling extra abuse nicely though.

Note the + sign after the catalogs. I worked at a division of Honda Logistics at one point and some Honda suppliers have not changed. Some suppliers may be different for Swindon UK.
But you can see some of the suppliers in some of the online OEM catalogs in dealership websites that sell parts online (like https://www.collegehillshondaparts.com/ , or, in Canada, http://torontohondaparts.com/OrderParts.aspx ), or this .pdf file published in Automotive News Europe : http://www.autonews.com/assets/PDF/CA114450227.PDF
