Has anyone else run into this before?
I was hearing some kind of noise when I drove into my workplace parking lot this morning, and saw this (image attached).
I am quite sure that I have not scraped the bottom of the car or anything like it that would tear this loose.
I thought I had seen a similar thread (with image) awhile back.

Yikes! I'm glad I had them show me how to do this myself at the dealer. Watched them put everything back they took off. Now I'll just do it, too many stories of stuff like this happening, looseing those bolts etc. God , if these dealers are that incompetent with an oil change, I'd rather them not be doing anything to my car ,lol

Does anyone know the part number for this cover? I've looked at a couple of Honda parts websites but was not able to find it.

Unfortunately it isn't a separate part. You have to buy the entire underbody shield in order to get that metal portion.

A major blunder on Honda's part. Maybe in the near future they might rectify it.

If the dealer screwed up, it is on them to fix it.

Thanks, Timber.
I did see that big under cover part. Something like $400.
I agree, this should be on the dealer. I have an appointment first thing Saturday morning.

Mine was hanging like that too. My fault though(parked too close to a tall parking curb). Still it ripped all the holes holding the pieces together very easily. Bad design. I showed it to my service advisor at Honda and he said it's becoming common. He recommended zip ties. So that's what we did.

Damn, seeing that kinda thing pisses me off, hope you get that straightened out without any cost to you.

I was a mechanic back in the 80s and 90s at a Chevy dealership, and I saw the same kind of sloppy work come back into the shop....sad that they haven’t gotten any better. A oil change should be a perfect job every time.

Same thing happened to me on Sunday. Also had oil change a few days ago.
My guess is that getting on the interstate caused to bend down and hit the ground. At slower around town speeds it wasn't grinding.

Return to see the dealer and ask a repair
