Had the car for 2 weeks and just 2days ago I had this popped up on my dash.
Took the car to the dealership this early morning and patiently awaiting for their diagnostics.

She’s a ‘19 Civic sport coupe, I went and put 91 octane on the car on my first refuel, whilst it being recommended to run on regular, would that be the problem where I screw up?

I doubt that gas is the issue.

I dont think using higher octane fuel would cause such problem. If you put in e85 without the flex fuel kit, you would have major problems. Let's just wait and see what the dealership's verdict is.

I'm curious as well.

Maybe it was just a bad batch of gasoline?

I hope it turns out to be a simple fix for ya'.

Hey guys, just went and picked up the car
They said there’s not realy any physical problem other than the system is needed to be updated by Honda
So we’re awaiting for Honda’s answer and for the system update.
It’s kind of disappointing tho, the fact that it’s a very new car,and of course you would think that when you drive it off the lot it’ll already have all the latest system and firmware update, but I guess not.
I wont be surprised if the check engine light comes on again soon.

Doesnt really make sense. They sell other sport copes/sedans with the same software so are they implying that it's an issue with other cars as well? Anyway hope you get an answer soon.

Did you, by chance, keep 'topping off' the tank when you bought the gas? You know... continuing to fill despite the auto shutoff on the gas pump?

Wondering if you also maybe had your car running when you were filling it up or something too.

I know for sure that I did not since I haven’t filled her up fully yet
I usually leave around 1/5 of gas left to fill

That’s a negative sir, I always turn it off whenever I pump gas.

I think it might be WHERE I go to fill up.
I live in Canada and where I live I usually fill up at Ultramar since it’s close.
I’ll be sticking to Shell from now on
Even though it might not be the cause

That sucks, to see the engine light on when the car is this new. I just picked up a 2019 sedan sport not long ago so finger crossed it's no issue.
Congratulations on the new ride man!

I'm a '19 SI Coupe chiming in. I have gotten this message on the dash a few times. It's always at start up when I have less than a half of a tank of gas. No driving charactristic changes or indications other than the message/CEL.
I've just reset via battery disconnect every time. Haven't had time to take it in to the dealer. As written above, it probably wouldn't do much good anyways.
Been waiting and watching for a definite cure here though.
Any news anyone?

I had the same issue with my 19 with less than 300 miles. Brought it to the dealer and same response. Car threw error code P)461.
Awaiting a software update. They advised me to always fill the tank when getting gas. The thing is I got gas the day prior to the error message and did not fill it up. FWIW I purchased the gas from a Mobil station

Here's a link to a thread I started with this same issue
