Hola, I'm a new member to this forum and I need some help with my electronic e-brake

Yesterday I was doing my rear brake pads and I accidentally pulled the 2 wires out of the harness (clip-on thing). There was two wires, one black and one white. After a couple of minutes of struggling I was able to reconnect the two wires back into the harness.

I checked the opposite side and it was white on top and black on the bottom.

Once I put everything back together and started my car, the light was on indicating "Electric Parking Brake Problem" & "Release Parking Brake".

Also, when I engage the e-brake you can hear the actuator working for about 5 seconds, compared to 1 second (normally).

(This problem goes away once I start driving and comes on SOMETIMES when i engage the parking brake)

Does anyone have any idea? Did I switch around the wires?? Ahhh

Thanks ahead of time! Looking forward to being apart of the community!

If those wire are plug and tight in connector , I will reverse them if you can. It is not a single one way connector ? Two connectors ?

1. Did you release the parking brake before removing the rear calipers?
2. Did you wind back the parking brake all of the way before replacing the calipers?

Also, when I engage the e-brake you can hear the actuator working for about 5 seconds, compared to 1 second (normally).
Does this happens every time? It is normal for the actuator to activate for about 5 seconds only on the first time the brake is engaged after changing the pads.

This problem goes away once I start driving and comes on SOMETIMES when i engage the parking brake
Maybe loose wire.

Maybe loose wire.

1- I guess we can't remove calipers with parking brake on.

2- "Wind back the parking brake "...
what do you mean ?

3- "Loose wire " ; I agree

There is a manual release on the actuator if you don't release the brakes using the button. It requires a E11 TORX socket. I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you have the correct TORX socket. A standard hex socket could damage it.

Wind back the parking brake
.
A caliper wind back tool is used to compress the brake piston back into the caliper.

from how you described pulling the wires out, I'm guessing loose wires.

There is a electrical connector ( E ) on rear brake, that is what you see when you write 2 wires ?

Are these 2 connectors RobGeeLau call 2 wires ?

Wow thanks for all the replies!

Yes these 2 connectors are what I'm talking about

I'm gonna take it apart and try to reconnect them, check for loose wire and if that doesn't work I'll try to switch it around. (I actually had a race engineer friend reconnect it but I trust his work more than mine)

Yeah, I did wind back the brakes with a brake compressor tool

The best way to reset is to remove the electric brake actuator and turn it clockwise (both brakes).
Look above the instructions how to do it (number 8)
