How often do you guys use it? Is it ok to leave on all the time?

(I know to turn it off when I want “fun”, just saying for daily use - is it bad for the car/transmission?

I'm only using it on the highway...but I turn it off as soon as I need to climb a hill, because when ECON and Cruise are on, car doesn't keep it speed going up the hill and I hate it.

I hate drivers who can't hold a speed, so I don't want to be one of them :)

I never use it in city because car become to be really boring to drive.

While it makes the car a bit boring to drive, there is nothing wrong with using it as much as you'd like.

I actually get better mileage with econ mode off. You might want to give it a try.

Interesting ... will do ! The gas is so much better than my old car ($50 a month for premium vs $200 a month for regular) that I probably don’t even need the ECON - maybe better for “road trips”?

Tried it 1-2 times the first month. I know a few that uses it.

Not concerned about fuel economy, 95% of my driving is on Sport mode using Paddle Shifters.

Kept econ on for about 6 months but noticed that fuel economy kinda suffered more than it did in normal in mixed driving. I think someone mentioned that if you're mostly in stop and go traffic, they suggested to run it in normal. if you're able to keep mostly constant speeds, that would probably be more beneficial in that type of scenario.

The button does two things mainly:

- Lowers the output of AC
- Dulls throttle response
- (Needs verification) dulls steering feel to a certain extent; making it less twitchy

All good for highway cruising, and not so much benefits in city driving.

I'm pretty sure it also change how the turbo reacts. Or maybe it's all related with the stiffer throttle

Are these facts or opinions?
Would be nice to know for sure what it does.

Here's a snippet from the owner's manual. http://owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2017/Civic-Sedan/features/Eco-Assist-System

Steering feel difference could just be my imagination.

More blurb on Eco Assist: http://greencarjournal.com/top-stories/hondas-eco-assist-makes-you-a-more-efficient-driver/

I believe the gas mileage gain with econ mode on is only more noticeable in highway driving.

I use it on the highway, it seems to smooth out the cruise control on hills. In the city, I disable eco, I find it easier to shift smoothly with it disabled for some reason.

Same here. I was using Econ mode for awhile but stopped using it a couple weeks back.
