I just wanted to give you guys a heads up since I just went through this tonight. I ended up ordering an eBay grille that was said to fit our FK8 Type R and come to find out as I removed the bumper and pulled the new grille out of the box, there is no way the emblem is going to sit on the new grille.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Type-R-Fro...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

As you can see the eBay photos show the emblem slot completely hollow, and that is exactly the reason why a new FK2 emblem from ICB will not sit flush on just a 1/8" surrounding tiny lip.

Wanted to post this so that no one else makes this mistake.

The listing you posted states it does not include the emblem. The one I purchased from eBay stated that it did. And it came with the center piece attached to the grille with provided backing for the emblem.

Mine looked like this when it came.
Thank you! I already processed the return for mine, and it had free return shipping. Not sure how the one I got would even work for any 10th gen!

The Hollow one can be made to hold a backing plate as there is a screw mount for it. I’ve made a few for these but stopped cause I’d charge people more than what they paid for it (if they got it at eBay).

I have one left of these grills without the backing plate if anyone is interested. $50 shipped.

Thanks for the offer, seller had free return shipping so I went that route and ordered the other one mentioned by @98-0425

You can use the FK8 emblem but the edges overhang the backing plate by a little

In this video I used the front emblem from the FD2 Civic Type R - purchased from ICB motorsports: https://www.icbmotorsport.com/jdmhocifd2ty3.html
Well guys I guess now I am 0 for 2! I went to install the new grill I ordered from the link above that @98-0425 mentioned and as I was installing it, the two center clips above where the emblem would go would not clip into the bumper. My grille is extremely hard in that area and even with pressure pushing into the bumper it will bow back outward and leave about 1/4" gap between grill and bumper. I am really striking out with this simple mod!

I had the same problem and it is common with this grille (see the Pro Civic grille thread). What I and others have done was to use the zip tie trick. Buy small zip ties. With patience, loop the small zip tie into each of those two clips from the inside of the bumper. This forces the clips to stay pushed in.

I will be giving that a shot when I have to pull the bumper again to do the oil cooler kit along with installing tow hook and possibly intercooler in a few more weeks. Thank you!

Hey guys, Since nobody has posted a FIX for this I wanted to show you how I fixed my eBay Cooling Grill Backing Plate Situation.

So I ordered the eBay Cooling Grill for my FK8 Civic Type R for $68.99 back in September, 2019 to my surprise there wasn't a way to mount the Front Emblem.

This is the Grill I ordered https://ebay.to/376nvy2

Unfortunately I didn't open the box until a month and a half after it arrived so I was outside the return window.

So I figured out how to fix it.

You need this backing plate https://amzn.to/2tApyMZ

Part # 71124-SNA-A00

Although the backing plate fit nicely, the screw hole on the back didn't line up and every time I tried to align it, the backing plate would pop out.

So I decided to use Epoxy to glue it into place.
This is the Epoxy I used https://amzn.to/2tA4S7Q

The arrows in the pics show where I applied the Epoxy.

Once the Epoxy cured I mounted the Front Emblem.

The emblem I used is from an FD2 https://ebay.to/2S4OOo4

Conclusion:

For a Total of $36 for the emblem and Backing plate, I was able to fix my $68.99 ebay cooling grill for a grand total of $104.99.

I hope this helps guys

P.S. Once I get it installed on the car I'll post a DIY video to my YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/torqtoolbox
