Drive belt inspection?

My Civic is calling for a drive belt inspection and I want to be able to do this myself. How? The official service manuals say to "look for cracks and damage, then check for position of drive belt auto-tensioner indicator". How do I do this last part about the indicator?

No brainer.
For the $20-30 it costs, just swap out the serpentine belt.
No worries about auto tension indicator with a fresh belt installed.
