Hello everyone,

I am a new civic owner and new to this forum. My 2016 Civic Touring currently has all season 215 50 17 tires. I was thinking of getting 15”tires 205 65 15. This size was recommended by my Honda deleeship’s website where I purchased the car from.

do you guys know if it’s a bad idea to downsize by 2” instead of 1”? Because my other option (more expensive) is to get 16” tire which is 215 55 16.

do you have any idea?

Makes no difference, so long as the rims don’t contact the brake parts.
You might notice the car handles a bit different when cornering.

Which is more expensive when combined with having to buy new wheels?

Also check what tires are actually available in suggested sizes from your CAN vendors.

Can use something like https://www.willtheyfit.com/ to see how far off the speedo will be/ what % the change is

17's really aren't too bad, I use 18's on both my 6th & 10th Gen and certainly won't go any larger. So really, 17's should be pretty peachy.. no new tires really needed unless they're just Str8 worn out

I use 15" steel wheel/tire package on my touring for the winter. It's the cheapest way to go and works just fine.

I run 16s in the winter and OEM is 18 - no issues

Speedometer could be off a bit depending on tire specs, you can find calculators for it online

What year of touring do you have? I ordered my rims from Costco.ca. I just hope they work well.

do you have any suggestions for Steel rims? What kind to get and from where? I ordered mine on Costco.ca and the guy on the phone said the rims were hub centric, and will fit. I keep reading however where people’s rimsdon’t fit or make noise.

As you mentioned, go through Costco and choose the hub centric steelies that take the OE lug nuts.
People run into issues when using generic wheels with an oversized center bore that are designed to used tapered lugs instead of the OE radius seat lug nuts.

Yes. I talked to the support person (that third party that Costco is using) on phone and he said my steel wheels were hub centric and should fit 205 65 15. I am guessing that’s all I need to get?

That’s all, fella.
And I’m a hurting unit today... the son and I got down all 3 sets of winter tires from the storage mezzanine in the garage yesterday , swapped over 2 CivicX’s and the wife’s CR-V and then washed, dried and put up all 3 sets of summer tires.
But at least it’s done.
