Originally got a quote for downpipe install on a Civic Type R for $295 assuming there were no issues. Dropped off the car at 815am. Got a call at 1130am stating that two of the turbo studs were sheared off and if I had any previous downpipe installs. The car has 6800 miles and I’ve haven’t touched the downpipe before. Only thing done was the catback.
I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and approved for them to just continue the install and replace the studs.
Picked up the car at 500pm with a bill of 726 with tax and a tire rotation.
I was actually fine with that price cause I know how painful it was to drill out the studs. But when I got home and checked the engine bay, I noticed they scratched up my engine cover, heat shield, etc.
That was the last straw. My friend for the same thing installed at another shop without issues for $150....
I don’t want to name the shop in public as of yet. PM if you want to know.
