For me no and no. Guess I like the cleaner look. Some body side moldings do look sharp and offer protection. Have never seen an edge guard that I liked.

I get the door edge film. It's pretty cheap, easy to apply, barely noticeable. I feel a little better in case a passenger is not careful opening the door.

My dealer put them on the car as soon as they got it (see my thread about "What 'extras' did the dealer try to stick you with") and I have decided to keep them for now. They can always be removed but I think they might be useful in parking lots and they don't look that bad on a dark car (Cosmic Blue).

I got my car with body molding just to protect from other people opening their doors into mine. It actually looks pretty good and super sleek even on my black car. And yes I also got the door edgd guard.

I am ordering side molding and edge guards today. I already have a sharp spot on my drivers door edge. Have no idea how it happened but it may have been that way from the dealer who knows
