My Civic came with dealership installed door edge guards. The more I look at them the more I think they break up the visual line down the side of the car. Does anybody else feel this way?

I'm thinking of removing them and replacing them with the clear type from 3M I've seen posted here:
List of addons to get/do or not

Do those still provide adequate protection and how do they look compared to having black stripes down the edge of the door?

Also, how hard will it be to remove the dealer installed edge guard and get off the glue or whatever they used to stick them on?

You should be able to peel the dealer ones off. The glue can be removed with your finger. It's better to do now than later as old glue is harder to get off.

As for clear edge guards, I'd tend to avoid them as they may discolor over time and even if they don't they look cheap. Personally I'd go with black or chrome colored ones.

Was thinking about removing mine's too but wife insist in keeping them and say they do not look bad so I'll keep them, for now : )
