So I was taking a look at a few threads on this site and I found out that the HU (the touchscreen one) on my 2018 Hatchback Sport has 16 (8 pairs) speaker signal wires. 8 (4 pairs) for the 4 woofers and 8 (4 pairs) for the 4 tweeters. So I bought my audio components already but I failed to notice this before i did. I was planning on running the 8 woofer wires to the LC7i and then from there to my 4-channel amp, then using the crossovers that came with the speakers to hook up to the tweeters and woofers as they were intended.... then I found out about the tweeter wires making me think there is already a crossover in the HU that splits the signal.
So i see 2 or 3 options right now without spending extra money.
1. (Works only if the woofer wires have the full range signal on them)
Only use the woofer wires and ignore the tweeter wires. Use the crossovers that came with each speaker set.
2. Only amp the woofers and connect the new tweeters directly to the pre-existing tweeter wires don'y use the crossovers that came with the speakers
3. This may be silly but connect the corresponding tweeters and woofer wires at the the same input of the LC7i hopefully "summing" the signal
Will any of these work and if so which would be the best? Is there any other way of doing this other than buying another amp for the tweeters which is not going to happen.
If it makes a difference here is what I have to work with:
- LC7i LOC
- Pioneer 4 Channel GM-D8604 Amp
- Set of Alpine SPR-60c
- Set of Polk DB6502
- Rockville RW8CA Powered Sub
