DIY: Smoked side marker

I've been following the DIY: Clear side marker thread, which now has discussions about Smoked markers. It's gotten a little confusing with both mixed together. I'm starting this thread for those interested in the Smoked Side Marker. I'll start by summarizing the key things I found in the other thread.

I also suggest reviewing pages 21-25 of that thread for experiences with this marker.
It is NOT OEM, and some have reported leaks.

For bulbs, Dretlaw used the Sylvania 194a LEDs. 2-packs are available.

I'm adding an alternative way to get a smoked side marker mentioned in the Custom Mods thread.
Instead of replacing the side marker, Chriskillz applied a smoked tint to both side markers.

I'm looking for some new side markers and am considering the Depo ones but was wondering if these leak? I know some of the aftermarket markers do just wasn't sure if these do. Anyone know?

Also, I'm new to tinting and what not but want my taillights a little darker but not dark. What percentage of tint do you recommend? Light Smoke Glossy is what I'm considering because places don't put the percentage on their product descriptions...

Got my tails and side markers tinted. 10 bucks for both at a local tint/wrap shop for the sides. Used smoked film. Only 2 types of taillight/headlight film out there, from my understanding. Smoke or Dark. The smoked tint looks almost like a dark orange. Didn't wanna go with dark to avoid any issues with cops. Check my garage for pics.

I'll take some night photos if interested.

I installed those type of side markers, and I haven't had an issue of leaking. No problems with install either.

I got basically the same ones, they look way better than trying to tint your orange ones.

Is there any smoked out side markers that don't leak or OEM JDM?

You wanna go with the Depo Smoked Side Markers. I haven't had any leaking issues at all and I am in South Florida where it has been raining 2-3 times a day. Washed the car multiple times as well and check for any leaks and nothing.

Love the quality.

I bought the clear JDM ones for A 2017 sedan that was crashed and never put on . Too bad Depo Smoked is so expensive. If anyone wants to trade that would be easier.
