I updated this with findings about the aluminum endlinks from the accord in a suspension thread here.
Nice find man. Ive been wanting to do either the Si or TypeR rear sway, but I keep reading different things everytime. What set up do you have/recommend for a sport hatch?

It really depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you plan to keep the car with stock springs/shock/struts, I would opt for an Si Bar if you want a little more turn-in response. The CTR bar is great but with a stock non-Si/CTR suspension, I feel like it is overworking the rest of the car. I personally think it needs either a front bar upgrade or more spring/dampeners to compliment the car.

I’ve been wanting to switch out the rear sway but would it be much of a difference if I get the si sway bar? I have a 2016 touring and I notice the size is 17.0mm and the si is only 18.0mm. Would the type r rear sway bar be a better choice?

Boring math will tell you its not a linear increase when changing the diameter of a sway bar. It is up to you if you think 133% stiffer is necessary.

(new O.D. sway bar ^4th power) divided by ( old O.D. sway bar ^ 4th power) then subtract 1 and multiple by 100 gets you the percentage.

17 --> 18 will be 26% stiffer.
(18^4/17^4-1)*100
17 --> 21 is massive 133% stiffer.
(21^4/17^4-1)*100

Has anybody even looked if the rear subframe is capable of handeling a larger swaybar? Type r ,si and regular Civic rear subframes all have different part numbers.Don't Know if it's because of the different exhausts ,but might also be a stronger subframe.

Actually all the hatches share the same rear subframe. From LX, to Sport, to Type R. The front subframe part numbers are different. The sedans have 4 different subframe part numbers depending on trim level, and the coupes have 3 different part numbers.

Oh wait correction: 2018 part numbers for the rear subframe on the hatches are all the same: 50300-TGH-A01.

2017 part numbers have 2:
50300-TBC-A01
50300-TGH-A01

Still don’t know what the difference is, if any.

Hey guys, if anyone is interested in how this is done my buddy and I tried to throw a video together showing the general steps. We didn't have great lighting and the car didn't have much clearance for us to get in there with a video camera to get close ups of the sway bar bracket or endlinks.

Here it is:

Not a problem. Not the best vid I've made b/c it was a rather impromptu swap that we decided to film. Normally my videos are a LOT more detailed than what you see here but it nonetheless captures the key things the need to be done.

Installed my 10th gen Si Rear sway bar too: Install was good, just needed to lower down car (loaded) to the ground for me to install the bracket bolts and endlinks bolts, somehow the bushings are so tight, cannot move the bar freely up/down.

I read the thread the whole way so, will the ctr sway bar kit fit an Si I see an extra stiffness but, I don’t mind it I’m thinking about the afe control sway bar set if someone wants to reference back.

It fits. Did you read the 1st post chart about stiffness changes?
