Looks great, EkSean!

If you wouldn't mind mentioning your process at all (or tools used), that would be great! I always love hearing how everyone else went about it so I can look toward my most appropriate method. Also curious how long it took in general.

Also, wondering what you painted black on the inside there? I know that my 2019 has a bumper portion (that as someone else just mentioned, you can cut into a little bit). Is yours the same, but instead of cutting it, you painted it? Or did you paint everything on the inside? Not sure what kind of paint would/should be used and whether it stays on after a car wash or something either.

Thanks!

EDIT: Oh, I see that the inside probably has some white as part of the body still, gotcha.
I used a dremel mostly. The little vent things are already cut out so it was mostly cutting the plastic backing of the whole entire vent garnish thing.

On the bumper it did have an indentation for the new 20’ refresh but I wanted it to be real. Yea you can see the white body color from behind. I had some duplicolor stuff that’s like plasti dip but their version. Quick and simple

I too did this, makes it look a million times better. I also painted it black on the inside so you can’t see white when looking in.

Made the 2020 vents look even better! Do you know if the 2020 vents have the same dimensions as 2017 si vents?

The dimension is the same, but the bumper cover on 2020 is different. The hatchback has a cutout, and the sedan has recessed instead.

You need to make a cutout like the 2020 hatchback here in order to install the 2020 vents.

Perfect thank you! I really hate the 17 vents and liked what they did with the 2020. I'm looking to replace the reflectors with LED replacements and maybe even vent it. Either way, I want to do it all in one job so i dont have to remove it all again. ??‍♂

Looks awesome! Great job. You created depth and dimension that makes it a home run. When I have time I’ll add ur pic to the first post on front page.

So will be doing the rears as well but here is my Front side design , did something different instead of just cutting all of them cut section and made some sort of design...

happy with outcome will post finished product when both and rear are done

(FYI very time consuming )

The goal is to give an area for air to escape that would otherwise be stuck behind the rear bumper. Think of the open spot on the rear bumper as a big parachute. The faster you are going the more air gets trapped behind it and wants to increase drag. With the vents/cutouts, the aim is to let the air flow straight through and escape. The other solution would be a full diffuser/bottom aero to seal that area off completely as to not let air get there but that won't be as easy a bolt on persay.
Have you guys messed around with this idea lately vincent??

Okay So after doing the fronts and then not wanting to deal with rears and each diamonf insert... Decided to make the rears simple and different but yet still functional... Cut the rear part behind Vent to let air flow thru and not get trapped so here is the temporary finish until I finally decide to upgrade to a proper aftermarket Vent which I like and is worth the extra bucks; Til then this will do for Front and rear Vents

Rear is super easy and took basically 10min each side without having to fully remove the rears out

I also was thinking later on cutting more Diamond shaped ones something like a 5 star pattern and fully cutting behind the rear vent on the bumper part... will see tho, either way I am glad of the outcome and looks somewhat different from others.

You might be onto something with this. Patterns or design cutout diamonds like your saying.

yea the more I looked at it , the more I realize I may look really good with a few more cuts in the diamond pattern opening for the rears !
If I do end up doing that If I get bored one of these days I‘ll be sure to post some pics

Okay Sorry for the delay in not posting any updates but here it is final product finish... I did go a step further and made both my Front and Rear bumper fully functional.....

Thoughts ?? It isn’t for everyone ,
But I wanted to get more airflow in the front to keep Temps down and especially when you get bigger intercooler it blocks flow to radiator so the holes in front hopefully helps... And the rears well pretty self explanatory... Either here are some pics of Front Vents , Rear Vents and F&R Bumper

I see how you didnt cut out the diamonds from the topside so as to avoid exposing crash beam. Looks good.
