DIY: Clear side marker lamp housing swap

I'm curious what the smoked side lenses look like with the Polished Metal Metallic Hatchback...
Anyone do this yet and have pics?

After going back and forth, I settled on the smoked, non-OEM side markers, and have posted a write-up/photos of them on my blog:

That also means that I have a new set of the ASEAN Honda OEM clear side markers available if anyone would like to buy them from me. It will save you the several weeks of ordering them from Thailand.

Looks good. I think the smoke side markers look good on dark colored cars. Mine is the silver and I don't think it would look as good as the clear.

I think that depends on the look that you want. I personally like the idea of high contrast, so the smoked side markers look better to me for lighter coloured cars. Personally preference, though.

I think it would look good on possibly a white car or if you have a black grill. But I have neither on my silver.


Plus my setup looks more legal according to my CHP friend.

How did you botch the JDM Honda install clear ones ?

The driver side marker went on without a hitch. The marker for the passenger side on the other hand refused to snap in, and I don't think I'm alone since others have apparently experienced the same issue with the passenger side. Same thing happened with the unbranded one, but I managed to pinch the lower part of the clip and the metal hinge (on the car) and it snapped in. Basically for the JDM one, I got really frustrated and just started shaving off parts of the plastic on the marker one so it would snap in. Of course it snapped in, but it was wobbly and would pop out easily if you gave it a tug.

The clear sidemarkers really stand out on my Aegean blue car. I'd imagine they look less noticeable on a lighter colored car such as white or silver. Thinking of swapping back to stock orange.

I also noticed that seam on my car. Look around the edges of the front headlights as well. Not the best paint job. I have a bottle of touch up paint I got from the dealer.

Yeah, I have this set up right now with my side markers. I have the Sylvania 194a (amber) LED bulbs.

Looks good with the black grill. I agree the black markers look good on the white car. Esp with the matching grill.
