disconnecting battery for intakes

do we really need to disconnect the negative on a battery when installing an intake
i have my intake on and run fine...i never disconnect it

In theory you should perform a PCM idle relearn when you modify the air intake, but doing it is a giant hassle. I never did when I changed intakes and my fuel trims were and are still excellent.
